Its a very early crow, but there were no shortage of punters wanting to get on at the shorts today and the horse led, was taken on, and ran 57.06 on a damp track.
Has Jimmy found his replacement for Hay List?

Key Business? Mmmmmmm it would have to break through a well established ceiling

His sire matters little now, plenty of blue bloods have been scrubbers and the other way around, he's obviously got plenty of talent to run that time on debut, if he improves he could well develop to be a top liner, lets hope so.........replacement for Hay List may be stretching it at this point though

All I am saying is that if this is to be a 'name' horse as suggested, it would have to be significantly better than every single one of the 314 runners KB has had in the past 10 years. There have been numerous good KBs all at the same level - Listed.

I think to call him the next Hay List was stretching it way past breaking point.....but we can dream!

Don't become too negative because of breeting...just think of Miss Andretti.
I heard an interview with John Hunt last week..looking forward to reading the book.

Would be rare for an older mare and stallion to produce their best runner so late but who knows.

related to 2 stakes winners - breeding cant be that bad can it??

I hope next Saturday when Barakey steps out to run they make his race 6 - regardless of the field size

would be great to have this horse running at a peak time just after the Eastern States racing has finished so all of australia can get a good look at him

I reckon his horse needs to be pumped up as WA's next superstar or Black Caviar and try and get some extra people to the races

Looks a freak of an animal ultra impressive but cant see him pulling crowds like Black Cav just yet  coming of the back of a couple of midweeks probably needs to win a Saturday race first of all then a stakes or Listed event or string 5 or 6 together Hay List won 8 straight and they didnt line up to see him

Correct, Dungy...again... :D The horse has only won 2 mid-weekers in the middle of bloody winter and they are talking of BC & Hay List.
You guys have got your maulers where they shouldn't be...

This thing has been pumped up more than Cuzzy on a big night

I'll be convinced when I see a decent one eyeball it turning, see what it is really made of

dunno about that sort of stuff, but it was completly untouched last time and numbers are VERY good.
so i will be surprised if it does not end up best horse currently in wa, provided it can get further of course, which i can't see why not, and it stays sound.
but i can vaguely remember being wrong once before :)

Fair enough, but bit more than a minor margin between being best horse in WA and the names that have been mentioned . . . . . . . .
  • thefalconthefalcon    20,495 posts
A bit of common logic...good to see.

yes, considering perth overall is about cranbourne level at best, then it has a way to go, but you never know.

not sure i underatand some of the "its only won a midweek" stuff.. where do you want it to start? a group 1 or something! they all have to start somewhere and they can only beat what is in front of them.. this thing has been winning by margins and in very good time, thats all it can do...
jimmy taylor compared it to hay list and not hay list in its prime but hay list at the same time in its career.
if u go and watch them both in their first couple starts then barakey has been winning in a more impressive manner...
would love to know jason browns comparison
  • dont worry showtime

the negativity on this site is incredible

reckon these guys would win $5 million in lotto and then whinge they should have won 6

the doubters can keep on doubting and we can just appreciate a good horse on the way to the top
  • TheDivaTheDiva    13,248 posts
I for one am willing to listen to Jimmy Taylor and look at the results as I see them. Times and the way he has won, has been more impressive than anything I can remember recently for a horse at that stage of his career.

One forum member actually declared to me it would be at least a listed horse before it even raced, so we're riding that "early crow" all the way and it may even be an understatement yet!

And they could have their selection of head collars and rugs !

Takes one rock / fence / lost shoe - and show's over.

Can speak from experiance too - have been there.
Yeah it still turned out alright, and it was fun - but what I'd give for that cash in the bank about now.
Especially in these times. My experiance with that figure was in the boom time !
