Neufbosc can make a race of it. He gets 6kgs off Truly Great. Looks to be re-capturing something resembling his French form, which was very good.

Regarding Truly Great, I’m surprised he’s running. Whilst the Cup prizemoney is decent, I wonder about the opportunity cost of prizemoney he may miss in the Melbourne autumn if he spells after the Cup. Very short turnaround between the Perth carnival and Melbourne autumn. But who knows? Maybe Bob’s looking at the Sydney autumn or, as others have suggested, Melbourne Cup qualification. He’ll meet the ballot condition if he runs in the first 3, he doesn’t need to win. And with a rating of 112 already I’d say he’d be assured of getting enough weight to make the field (assuming his rating doesn’t drop by the date weights are issued).

Judging the way TG carried 59kg in “the Ted” and went to the line untouched I hardly think an extra 1 kg and an extra 300m is going to bother him at all. And in regards to affecting any interstate raids later on in Autumn.
If Bob wasn’t serious about winning his home town cup would he have not bothered running him in “the Ted” ?
Maybe Bob still values the Perth Cup as a significant trophy to have on his mantle piece.
To be honest there are plenty of people who knock Bob’s dominance of W.A racing but take TG out of the cup and what have you got in regards to any interest, particularly of those on the east coast.
Peter’s Williams Pike combo on a very good horse in one of our big races does create attention which I reckon is a good thing. Who knows the Pikey Pikey Pikey chant could be heard again January 2.

Doesn't have Pike on final field as jockey for TG, are they still deciding...noticed Midnight blue doesn't have a jockey named...could it be Pike goes on midnight blue if TG doesn't run?

Interesting interview with Bob after the barrier draw.
Says Midnight Blue his best chance because of weight relief.
    Pike listed to ride TG.
Anything to read into the above ??

deto, remember the KT was wfa... L-) i hope some of those pesky lighweights don't attack TFF, which could play into pikes hand.
as you say, bob was quite positive about MB and stressed his weigh advantage. he will lack nothing in distant riders in paddy carbery.
    as someone

.... as someone said 4 or 5 should not be in it...
  • detonatordetonator    4,397 posts
Yes Falc I know both the KT and the Ted are wfa and TG raced his opposition without the weight disadvantage he faces with some of his rivals in the cup.
I am sticking with TG in the cup cause......I’ve already got the money on.

I rarely ever catch the interviews but Bob is generally circumspect isn't he? Dont recall ever having seen/heard him bullish and give a big push for one of his.The weight is a leveller obviously but i believe TG is a significantly superior horse to MB, TFF only gets a kilo and for mine is a query at the trip, also have a slight query on Neufbosc(could well be wrong and he wins it)and Platoon cannot win.
Brideoake's mare if she rocks up could be a danger stalking and ready to pounce, is into $8 at a couple of the corporates,
  • I'm liking midnight blue, has a decent turn of foot at top weights.
But from an inside draw with carbrey aboard.. hopefully he gets more luck than what he did in the winterbottom.. surley he will try to hold it 2 off the fence if he can

#BREAKING: The WA government will reinstated its hard border closure with Victoria from midnight tonight.

It comes as the number of cases of COVID-19 recorded in Victoria grows to eight.

Victoria had been classified a "very low risk" state because there had not been any community transmission for 28 days, but acting Premier Roger Cook said the new cases warrant Victoria being reclassified a "medium low risk" state meaning the new restrictions apply.

Anyone who has arrived in WA from Victoria since December 21 will now have to self-isolate for 14 days.

People will no longer be able to enter WA unless they are an exempt traveller.

No, but they should do he would be the best available easily and i'm pretty sure he can ride 56.
Dave Harrison has already subbed Paul in on 2 of his.

There is no way that Jye has come in contact with those who have currently tested positive for Covid.

The originator of the virus getting into Victoria, is a person who was infected in NSW and lives there. He  went to a restaurant where those who were infected by this person were eating. Those people went shopping the next day.

There are 70 close contacts of the infected people now in isolation, and members of the public who went shopping in Fountain Gate Plaza, a big centre here, are going for testing.

The person responsible for infecting everyone has gone back to NSW and they know who that person is.

Bottom line, we will get more positives from the 70 close contacts, and as long as they are  the only ones who contract the virus, we will be O.K.

If someone not connected in any way to those people, or who didn't visit the shopping centre and a few other places that have been listed, gets the virus, then we are in trouble. Because we wont know where it came from.

My feeling is, that the only cases we will get, will have emanated from this one person.

Be that as it may, you watch the fugging useless, lying, sensationalist media, beat it up, as they have done on our 6 o'clock TV news here in Melbourne tonight, as if the virus has spread throughout the community, and that our health authorities haven't got a handle on things.

Agreed totally unnecessary re Jye test him before and again when he arrives the test's surely are negative so fair bump play on, but no hardcore it is as usual one out all out..having said that i suppose the seemingly extra tough approach here has worked...

what about the 000's of people that have arrived from victoria since the 21st dec? from what dr. cook said they all have to isolate...wtf.
where will he put them? how will he track them down, from their apps? why was poor old jye probably the 1st...maybe because they knew where to nab the poor bast*ard.
he won't be back in perth for a while...
