    To Slippergolden the english master. Bookie. A colloquialism. Suitable for ordinary conversation but NOT for formal speech or writing. My dictionary says a smartarse  can be spelt any way you want. Smart arse.

    Fantastic that you beat the Bookmaker on the day and all power to you for that but I have never seen Bookie spelt Booky and if I didn't have a jovial jibe at it others would have.

    Those that don't take things too seriously on this forum do enjoy the contributions so keep contributing and don't be too sensitive........ but ensure your vocabulary is top notch

    The one that tricks me to this very day is there & their . Very hesitant on those 2. Sometimes try to change the wording around so don't have to use either! But getting better since on this forum. Well There you go.

    Whenever anybody picks someone up on vocabulary errors on the forum I don't really believe they are having a serious dig. I have never perceived it that way and have always treated it as a bit of fun.

    How do you go with they're Rider?

    People spelling lose loose annoys me no end. Almost as much as that U2 album that's popped up on my iTunes account.

    if dan Morton gets a fine..i hope he refuses to pay it and gets tom percy to do a pro-bono if they take it any further.
    I wonder what our "journalists" will write?.... 8-}

    It's any wonder he has lost it they cost him a Gr1 a few weeks back now this!!! Must be getting hard for him to stomach, they are driving owners and punters away and this is his livelihood!!

    Dan Morton is to face an inquiry because it sounds like he gave the stewards a serve after they dismissed the protest.
    You cannot blame the guy for being p!ssed off after that.
    WA stewards really are a disgrace when it comes to protests. I'm convinced now.
    Check this sh*t out from the late reports in todays stewards report-------

    Ascot Thursday, 1 January 2015 – Race 1: Westspeed 2yo Plate - 1100m Stewards today concluded an Inquiry into the conduct of Trainer Mr Daniel Morton following the decision being announced by the Stewards in the objection hearing of the above race. Mr D. Morton pleaded guilty under AR.175(q) for improper conduct in that he used a verbal obscenity on two occasions and then forcefully opened the Stewards Room door when leaving causing it to slam against the wall. Mr Morton was subsequently fined the sum of $2,500 and under the provisions of AR.196(4) an amount of $1,000 was suspended for a period of twelve months on the condition that he does not offend any conduct related rule within this period of time. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account Mr Morton’s guilty plea, his prior very good record over a considerable time as a licensed person and that he apologised and was remorseful for his actions.

    should have got the usual "reprimand"...pity the mice don't look as closely to some rides......AND ensure distance races are conducted at a reasonable speed....should make sure DRM has a ride in every race over 1800m...it would be a start...

    Interesting...a big fine when you think a positive swab a month back only got a $2250 fine. The best steward I ever encountered was Don Thomas. He was a horseman of note prior to stewarding, calm and very respectful and always referred to drivers as "Mr Schrader" or "Mr Lindau" etc. He was highly respected because he reaped what he sowed. I once saw him calm down a very agitated driver by giving him a few minutes to collect himself, gave him the opportunity to retract his previous comments, accepted the drivers apology and then said "Now, lets sort this problem out" ...no doors going off hinges, no fist shaking or accusations about your parents marital status at the time of conception....just plain old mutual respect. A bit like ex footballers umpiring, do they ever have ex jockeys on Stewards Panels to assist them to actually "read" a race?
