Well done to Trooper and all those that found winners today. I left my luck with the last at Cheltenham last night.... might have to return there tonight. The bloke in UK who tipped last night selected a $33 winner in what looked like a 50 horse field.

yep it was a good run, rio.
i had 2 beers..and i didn't enjoy them with water dripping everywhere. they have the good idea of buying tickets for drinks..saves a heap of time at the bar with no money changing hands....PR take note for busy days.
i bought 3 and gave the last one away...tells the story, eh?

had no idea she would do that but i just thought the others would be too smart/careful and she will try to win..Broke away and rode the last 100m very well..Oh, the horse did okay too!!! haha

I thought it was a great ride. Loved the way the stick went away and just pushed it out at the end. Could be another J Noske on the up, good on her

beat a 100 rater so he had to get bought up to the minimum (88)+ 4 for the win....Harsh but fair..IMO..

I'd be happy with the doubling of prize money if I owned him. 14 runs to earn 60k, 1 run to double it.

keep him in the staying races as long as he is earning and pick off as many country cup runs you can...or retire him if not up to the mark, cos he will never get enough runs to bring it down into the 70's again!!!

the 70 to begin with was nonsense, and even more so when the handicappers reckon they take all into consideration to come up with their ratings.
he went from 74 to 72 to 70, and if you watch those races then you would realise just how BAD wa handicapping is.
and that is not even accounting for the fact he was on the up as far as condition goes.

the cup was a 90+ so the reality is that he only got 2 points for winning???
i thought he would probably go to 94, but whatever.

  • RIORIO    14,902 posts
there was a 2 point allowance on the cup i think carey

what is a 2 point allowance rio??

according to cris it was a 90+ and going by the weight of those not ooth then that is what it was.

if you are meaning the cris conditons(METRO - HCP (-2) 90+), then the -2 there, just means the race was scaled 2kg stronger than your normal open hcp which is according to them an 86+
    so in this case it was an 86+ plus 2kg*2 = 86+4 = 90

it is easy to check rio
all you need to do is check the weights and corresponding ratings of those above the minimum

    for instance.......

    lords ransom weight=59 rating=100
take the weight(59) away from the limit(54) =-5kg and multiply it by 2 to get rating points =-10 + 100 =90

pretty obvious why people get confused though.

Off to Victoria and over the jumps... looks as though it will handle the wet tracks ;)

You've had a fair bit of fun out of Hibernian Bomber and it may not be over yet.

Question which may or may not be relevant.

I see that Noske was fined for using the whip 2 times more than allowed before the 100m mark. Now I am not saying by any stretch that that this was the reason why Destroy won. But it begs the question to me, is a fine significant enough and is there grounds to protest if you think the rules haven't been adhered to? What if Reprisals connections said to the stewards before correct weight, hang on, i think he used the whip ïllegally"in that race. Would anything be done about it, or is this just petty?
  • thefalconthefalcon    20,495 posts
does anyone expect him to count, its peeing down, the track is shifty and it is our biggest country cup.
a protest for excessive use of the whip is a very frightening prospect...the race is, say, lost then the connections of "the winner" then sue the jock....we don't even want to think about it.
if it happens, let it happen over east and let them ponder over it....God knows what "the blind mice" would do. 8-X
