Bunbury R1. Lion Maiden Preview - Gary Wright

Charlie’s Joy impressed at his only race start back in November when third at Ascot to Island Scandal, it looks good enough form to win this race. A lot of these are first starters so hard to line them up, so on that previous run Charlie’s Joy is the selection. The barrier is a little concern, drawn wide at the 1100metre start, so not a race to be investing heavily in. Jolly Moss has had four race starts and hails from the strong Simon Miller stable, he looks the main danger, although it appears Patrick Carbery has chosen to ride Charlie’s Joy in preference to Jolly Moss today. Remediate is drawn well and ran a nice trial at Lark Hill a couple of weeks ago, could be a place chance along with another newcomer in Need A Lift, she is unfortunately drawn the outside gate, but she did run Dawn’s Flyer to a neck in a trial recently.

2. CHARLIE'S JOY - 1. JOLLY MOSS - 11. REMEDIATE

Bunbury R2. Jacob\'s Creek Sparkling Maiden Preview - Gary Wright

Flytego ran a nice race here at Bunbury two starts ago and on that effort he looks hard to beat back to a similar class. Last start he started at long odds and ran accordingly in a much stronger city race at Ascot, so back to a country maiden from a good draw he may get jockey Patrick Carbery off to a flyer on Cup day. One that has been improving steadily in trials is The Score, also drawn very well here, his last two trails have been quite good. Sakuru is another that has trialled well in preparation for a race debut, she looks to have some ability as well. A newcomer from Victoria is Beijing for trainer Justine Erkelens, ran a close second to The Score in only trial appearance in the state, may be one for novelties here, if he can overcome the wide draw.

    1. FLYTEGO - 5. THE SCORE - 11. SAKURU

Bunbury R3. Gwn7 Maiden Preview - Gary Wright

Very difficult race coming up here, you will no doubt get plenty of value if you choose to invest in this race. Thunder Express may be one of those each way hopes, simply as he may race close to the lead from a good barrier, his first up run here behind Stellular was quite good, he may go on with it now. Mrromanhorse was a very good run at his first start when coming home really well over 1000 metres, surely on that effort the extra 200 metres here will suit, however he will probably have to cover most of the field this afternoon if he races from the back again, he also has drawn the outside gate which probably necessitates that he goes back again. Hydroflight will have probably already sent his admirers broke by now, but once again looks one of the main chances here, and others are Advantage Norman who has shown promise in the past, he returns on the back of a trial victory here, and Oh Blitz has led and weakened at her only two starts, she may strip fitter today and give them something to catch.

    6. THUNDER EXPRESS - 3. MRROMANHORSE - 10. HYDROFLIGHT

Bunbury R4. Sky Racing Maiden Preview - Gary Wright

He should start favourite on the back of a very close second to subsequent Ascot winner Sireeze on Feb 27, if running anywhere near up to that form he should break through for a maiden victory this afternoon, this seems a great pick up ride for Daniel Ganderton. He is very well drawn, and should race from the front of the field, and the 1400 metres shouldn’t pose any problems either. Weekend Rustler has been racing in very much stronger company of late, including the Magic Millions race, he will appreciate this big drop in class today, did run a couple of nice races a month or so ago at Ascot. Two horses out of the same race last start may be next best, Royal Devil and Ring The Cat, Royal Devil ran a good second to Stellular in his last outing.

    2. SOARING LAD - 1. WEEKEND RUSTLER - 3. ROYAL DEVIL

Bunbury R5. Jetset Bunbury Maiden Preview - Gary Wright

Immunetojudgement resumed here on Mar 3 when a good second to Ye Olde, he does jump up to 1675 metres today but it does look as if it will suit him, he was battling on well at that first start without looking like he was going to get past the winner, with that start under his belt he looks well placed in this race. State Form is another racing in a similar vein, he also jumps up to the 1675m today, and it looks as if he will also appreciate the rise in distance. Eyes Dont Lie has been pretty good at his first two race starts finishing on the heels of the placegetters, he is another that should go well in this race. A couple that might start at nice each way odds are Exclusion and Pants On Friar, both ran on nicely at their first race starts here a couple of Sundays ago.

    5. IMMUNETOJUDGEMENT - 1. STATE FORM - 7. EYES DON'T LIE

Bunbury R6. Remax Lighthouse Realty Handicap Preview - Gary Wright

Very hard to fault the formline here, three starts for a win and two seconds, she looks to be quite a handy galloper in the making and gets her chance to post a second victory this afternoon. She should race on the speed and give them something to catch in this race. Stellular won very well gaining a good inside run at her last start, she may appreciate the small field here as she seems to get back at times, it was a good win last start, she certainly has prospects in this race. The best of the others may be Real Bonita who has been consistent of late, and Secret Melody who ran a good race last start in the same field as Priceless Cat, that was a much improved run from her.

    3. PRICELESS CAT - 5. STELLULAR - 4. REAL BONITA

Bunbury R7. South West Apprentices\' Cup Preview - Gary Wright

The annual South West Apprentices Cup has brought together a small field this year, but a very even race, with most of these some sort of chance, it may come down to which apprentice does produce the best ride in the race. One that has been up a while but still producing very consistent form is Fort Lotus, he was beaten by Go Jorj here at the AHA Cup meeting but meets him 4kgs better on weights in this race, its very hard to fault his form over the Bunbury and Pinjarra seasons and he certainly looks a good each way bet once again today. Go Jorg will obviously have admirers on his last start effort, that was a good win on that day, very little to separate these two with the weight differential in this race. Monumental is another with big claims, he looked very unlucky at his first up run when cut off badly half way up the straight. Sax On The Beach will hopefully improve for connections as well today, has been disappointing at three runs back so far, but a better horse that that form suggests.

    6. FORT LOTUS - 3. GO JORJ - 5. MONUMENTAL

Bunbury R8. William Barrett & Sons Vase Preview - Gary Wright

It would be a surprise to see anything but Dark Rock, Jack The Sparrow, Let’s Buy Iht or Major Victory winning this race, but its probably best to put them all in quaddies as it isn’t easy to decide in which order they will finish. Dark Rock has been racing very consistently and we will tip her to win this race, she is going extremely well in this campaign and looks a good each way bet here. Neville Parnham hasn’t had the best of luck of late, but might bounce back into the training winners circle here. Jack The Sparrow is first up today, he has a good record when resuming, possibly the 59.5kgs is a slight worry but still expect a good effort from him. Lets Buy Iht dead heated with Rose Of Choice here last start, just not sure how she will go over 1400metres, but a good chance in this race if she gets the distance, and Major Victory resumes as well today, won at his only start back in July at Pinjarra Park and looks a good prospect in the making, a good race this one.

    3. DARK ROCK - 2. JACK THE SPARROW - 8. LET'S BUY IHT

Bunbury R9. Xxxx Gold-bunbury Cup Preview - Gary Wright

Surely the unluckiest horse racing in the West at present is Miss Tipsy Topsy, she has been beaten a breath at her last two starts, and prior to that has been placed in some good quality fields at Ascot, and with Barnsley Lad, her conqueror in the AHA Cup missing from this field, you would hope today finally is her day. I dont think the 2200metres should prove any problems, she did win earlier in her career over the distance in the Belmont Classic, and was coming home over the top of them in the AHA Cup a fortnight ago. If you have been backing her every start like I have, hopefully we can recoup some of our money this afternoon. Dangers look to be the Peters trio, William Pike has elected to ride Dreamaway, so we will take that on board and tip her as the main danger, if she ever approached her three year old form she would start quite short in this race, but she hasn’t raced up to that lately, however she does slowly seem to be coming back to something like her best, she meets Miss Tipsy Topsy a little better on weights from their last meeting also, but the wide barrier possibly offsets that advantage. Moonlight Bay  ran a good race in the AHA Cup and looms as another chance for the Williams stable here, and the veterans in the field Double Barrel and Lords Ransom probably round out the main chances, Lords Ransom seems to come good on Bunbury Cup day, can he win his third cup ?.

Bunbury R10. Gannons Handicap Preview - Gary Wright

This Luciani trained three year old was a very good winner here at his last start on Mar 3, he gathered the field in very well that day and had the race won a fair way out, and is improving with every start. Drawn to get a really good run today he looks extremely hard to beat and possible each way prices may be available. Dubai Escapade looks the other main chance, he has held his form very nicely of late in these sorts of fields, ignore the run behind Express Service in a crack Challenge Stakes field a few weeks ago. Let’s Havachat has run pretty well in his last couple of starts and looks a good place chance today, with Lady Carrie the possible other to put into your novelties in this last event on Cup day.

    3. YE OLDE - 1. DUBAI ESCAPADE - 5. LET'S HAVACHAT
