R1. Westminster National Equipment Finance Plate - Scott Embry

No chance of me reaching for my wallet in the first without any confidence in 2 year old betting. I did back Puteri Jewel on debut, admittedly for places only and survived a double protest from Morton and Parnham who are both back to avenge themselves. The $40 000 Demerit filly jumps from barrier 7 and will need to go quick to cross a few of these. For tipping purposes settled on Oakland Park debutant Pushin' Shapes, a half brother to Bombora. Should position perfectly and give a sight at around 7-1. Not mentioned at all in the racebook but I do believe Amourio has had a throat operation since his last start so backers beware.

4. PUSHIN' SHAPES - 1. PUTERI JEWEL - 2. AMOURIO
+1 -1

R2. Australian Chinese Times Trophy - Scott Embry

Happy to jump aboard the Dragonlead bandwagon, nothing surprising here just another Durrant favourite who should be getting the win. Knuckey off for weight relief he will carry only an extra half kilo on his two most impressive runs. Interesting to see whether Azzopardi employs the same tactics as Knuckey with a Danny Miller type mid-race move but regardless the Black Tom brute should be too strong again. Saxy Grace is a tiny little mare compared to the stablemate. Always reeling off the fastest final 600 but generally from too far back. This might be her day to catch them. Already Famous is super consistent and looks a luxurious places bet at $2.

    1. DRAGONLEAD - 7. SAXY GRACE - 4. ALREADY FAMOUS

    SUGGESTED BET - 1. DRAGONLEAD $50 x $50

R3. Westminster National Property Finance Handicap - Scott Embry

Bookmakers were stunned when money came from absolutely everywhere last start for Harrison's Holy Roman Emperor filly Sheidel, she sped out of the gates, sat outside flying leader Fire Born and made him look like a second class galloper rounding the corner to power away and win by 3.3 lengths. If she finds the fence and can handle the extra furlong then it would look to be all over. Miss Sedusa is a maiden who was specked at odds and ran a very handy second to the favourite, meets her 1.5kg better at the weights and should attack the line again. Ideal Image is a better filly than her last two runs have shown, from a soft barrier 1 run she is a genuine danger.

    1. SHEIDEL - 9. MISS SEDUSA - 2. IDEAL IMAGE

    SUGGESTED BET - 1. SHEIDEL $100

R4. Gong Xi Fa Cai Happy Chinese New Year Handicap - Scott Embry

She's A Virtue is a mare on the rise and she should be winning this and moving onto bigger and better things. Jordan Turner claims 3kg and obviously he is the concern for most. While he is yet to taste Metro Success he is a very handy young apprentice and I have faith that he will get the job done. 9 winners at Geraldton this season and a career record of 46% first 4 finishes, a lot better than many. For those worried about the hoop remember that Ikenushi's first 4 strike rate is a mere 34% which includes his 3 victories aboard She's A Virtue. Common Approach was well supported late in betting when losing ground at the start and unable to reel in Inok. He can finish in the money again. Via Laurentina is a lovely looking mare who can improve, forget the last start run where she suffered cardiac arrhythmia.

    4. SHE'S A VIRTUE - 11. COMMON APPROACH - 6. VIA LAURENTINA

    SUGGESTED BET - 4. SHE'S A VIRTUE $50 x $50

R5. Westminster National Business Finance Handicap - Scott Embry

The biggest question on my mind is, has a spell and some time away from the track allowed Orright to grow into his legs and produce a more efficient running action? An awkward looking, long striding type who will obviously improve on whatever he does first-up on his way towards a tilt at the WATC Derby. Impressive at all career runs, will get back and be the drunk looking thing coming down the middle of the track but one I'm keen to follow. Say Geronimo has finished in the money at 6 of his 7 career outings including the Group 2 Guineas and Listed Aquinita, deserves respect and should he drift is the logical eachway play in the race. Binky Toy got the money at Pinjarra after running into talented Oaks fancy Neverland.

    2. ORRIGHT - 1. SAY GERONIMO (NZ) - 8. BINKY TOY

R6. Chinese Lunar - Year Of The Sheep Handicap - Scott Embry

On paper it looks as though Cougar Nights will meet Proceedwithcaution 5kg better at the weights BUT Aaron Mitchell's minimum riding weight is 56kg meaning he will only claim 0.5kg of his 3kg allowance and so Cougar Nights only meets Proceedwithcaution 2.5kg better, a significant difference. The obvious question being, why put Mitchell on? But back to the race, I was super impressed with Back to A Walk's run last run where he charged home late and looked as if he was returning to his best form which would see him super competitive here. Should drift back and hit the line with gusto. Proceedwithcaution was heavily supported when winning last start and can make it back to back wins without surprising but tipping favourites gets old quickly, unless you're in the tabform. Petrol Power is the class galloper of the field and his first-up run behind the inform Flytego was excellent.

    7. BACK TO A WALK - 2. PROCEEDWITHCAUTION - 1. PETROL POWER

    SUGGESTED BET - 7. BACK TO A WALK $10 x $40

R7. Westminster National Personal Finance Handicap - Scott Embry

Another typically tough and evenly graded 1000m dash so I'll stay out and just tip the most consistent and rock hard fit galloper in Flytego. Was once a jump and run leader who was rolled at Geraldton but has evolved into an adaptable and adept sprinter. Drawn perfectly in barrier 4 he appeals on an eachway basis at around $4.50. Park Lane is out of form but the price on offer of 150-1 is just like Redfoo; Ridiculous. With only 51kg on his back he will give roughie backers a sight. Thunderluv'n is another evergreen who is always around the money when the cheques are being signed. Travinator can bounce back to his best, has won 6 from 9 at 1000m and 5 from 9 at Ascot. Deuton, the class galloper, always shines second-up but has never carried more than 59kg.

    5. FLYTEGO - 11. PARK LANE - 4. THUNDERLUV'N

I look more like a jockey than a prize fighter and while I love to chirp I'll leave the fighting to those high in muscle and low in intelligence. Power Punch however, is one I'm keen on (again). Sounding like a broken record tipping him every week and leaving with an empty wallet but this might be his day and I want to be aboard when it is. Last start was caught 3 deep before Staeck pushed forward to lead and was only grabbed on the line by talented mare I'm Feeling Lucky who he meets 2kg better at the weights. W.Pike aboard he is the train we'll be taking home in the last. Shravan is another one who is way over the odds in my opinion, I've grabbed myself a little of the $23 to place. There is a distinct lack of speed in this race and at 100-1 he can find the top and give some cheek at seriously juicy odds. I'm Feeling Lucky will again fly like a Qantas 737 over the final furlong.

    11. POWER PUNCH - 9. SHRAVAN - 3. I'M FEELING LUCKY

    SUGGESTED BET - 11. POWER PUNCH $50 x $50

Sheidel is up in distance and has the race destroyer Stent on. I believe Stent will cause some problems and wreck Sheidel's chances.

Kate Witten did her no favours last start. She comes up against no exposed speed here. It'd take a problem with the horse for a loss.

Will need some luck, but I like Dontgetcaught in the last.
Also not a lot of depth in race 7 and Thunderlovin looks well placed if Durant has him ready for a crack first up.
