    i cannot fathom how lights cost so much... :-w

    if cranbourne and canterbury plus MV and towoomba (especially this qld course) can install them..why not us?

    Night racing, i don't think so

    Falc, Colin can't be trusted, he has proven that

    Lark Hill is what should be getting developed into a proper racecourse.

    Falcon is spot on.

    Not so long ago PR embarrassed the Government over the stadium. It now has plans of its own for redevelopment which goes far beyond racing requirements, which if successful will make the Club considerable revenue.

    But PR wants Colin to cough up for lights - a strictly racing item.

    Are we kidding, PR utilise your OWN the money for racing infrastructure because that is what PR has prime responsibility for.

    In this instance Government should not expected to pay for lights, PR should redirect its focus to providing racing infrastructure not gymnasiums if it is prepared to contest for Government funding with other more needing race clubs and codes.

    It is a massive amount H, just have a look at the lights at the WACCA, they cost squillions many years ago.
    And if you have a look at Happy Valley and Singapore, they would be what you need to satisfy the required safety standards.
    I lived in a highrise about 20 ms from the Singapore track and had to close my curtains when the races were on, the lights lit up the inside of ny bedroom.

    The lights idea is a great idea i think. Nothing better than heading over to Melb and going to a Friday night MV meeting. Perth Racing are not exactly at the fore front of ideas so unlikely this would happen in my time (take into account im only in my mid 20's).

    I would think that as the racing industry here wouldnt be too keen on it as they may think that Friday nights at Gloucester Park would be affected. Although i wouldnt think it would be a whole year round thing, maybe just summer and rotate between Friday and Saturday...Far be it for us young folk to have a valid opinion though!

    Barnett's a dictatorial prick no doubt but you have to be smarter than treating people with real power with absolute contempt especially when your guilty of consistently mismanaging your finances and when you know that sooner rather than later you're going to be sticking your hand out to the government for assistance.

    Sunshine Coast has the best lights for racing but don't use them much because of the cost of running them

    The towers will only be commenced once the previous builds have been over subscribed in sales. I don't believe there is too much chance of them making the grandstand a priority when the units are what they should be building to get back some cashflow.

    If you work through this announcement, demolition will not commence until November 2014. Now will that be following the removal of the Magic Millions sales complex where Stage 2 is supposed to have commenced two weeks ago ? Potentially, early next year, the area from the roundabout at the entry point, all the way to the river and back to the Farmer Freeway, will be a construction area. The 2015 and perhaps 2016 seasons will be run somewhere else as a result.

    But that's if they ever start, because until now all you get from Perth Racing are pie in the sky plans that change every 12 months and one delay after another.

    Nobody has mentioned the pending report from the independent track specialists who have been looking at Belmont in terms of what to do next. They may still need to do a complete track rebuild as well as the planned construction.

    Of course they could be - but they would incur a larger setup cost, but much lower on going costs!

    Twilight racing would suit our environment and temperature perfectly!

    At the north edge of campus Google built a park with tennis courts, soccer fields, fitness stations, Frisbee golf. Its lights are powered by a giant bank of solar panels.

    I heard the track report came back pretty good. Not too much work required at all

    Wind power is the answer I went to the wind farm in Mojave Southern California last year it powers 600000 homes was incredible seeing it at night as well with all the lights

    it's going to get sacked if it does not pick up.
    going crap today but i reckon some of your little mates have not ridden for so long it shows!

    i think wind power is the go too, pt could probably generate enough for all of perth.
