R1. The Appleton Estate Sprint - Gary Wright

Testamezzo tasted defeat for the first time in the Belgravia Stakes on opening day at Ascot, suffice to say that was a much stronger field than this one, and he did have excuses that day also. His previous win when first up in this campaign was terrific, and he should bounce back into the winners circle this afternoon. The draw is terrific at the 1000 metres start, he should be able to land in a good spot and hopefully sprint over them at the finish of this race. You Will Be Queen was scratched from a winnable race on Wednesday so connections must be fairly confident here, she no doubt leads and gives them something to run over and will carry no weight at all here, certainly she is the other main chance in the event. Ignition returns today on the back of a few good runs at Belmont, and the one at odds may be Mr African, he has shown good potential and broke through last start in Albany, may start to improve markedly now.

2. TESTAMEZZO - 9. YOU WILL BE QUEEN - 3. IGNITION

SUGGESTED BET - 2. TESTAMEZZO $50

R2. The Wild Turkey Rare Rtd Handicap - Gary Wright

A few nice three year olds engaged here in what is a very open race. Probably not a big betting race as a few of these are second up, or drawn wide which makes it a little difficult. Will go for Flying Zoe, she is one that has drawn wide but she was very impressive early in this campaign and unlucky not to have notched a win. If she can get into some sort of position she may be able to finish the race off nicely, the claim for Jerry Noske certainly helps as well. Leichachino has been a little bit of a bridesmaid in her career, but she should improve on her first up effort behind Saint Bro here two weeks ago, look for a good showing from her in this race. Other good hopes look to be Yaloginda, another perennial placegetter who has shown ability but is yet to break through for a maiden victory, and Crown Lawyer who continues to improve.

    1. FLYING ZOE - 8. LEICACHINO - 2. YALOGINDA

R3. Desiree Gill Tribute - Gary Wright

Wroughted has been in terrific form for the Durrant stable since relocating to the West, he was just beaten last start by Bippo No Bungus in a very close finish, maybe he can return to the winners circle today. He has hardly put a foot wrong in recent times and you know you will get a run for your money if you do invest on this horse, Alex Hearn retains the ride today and he does look hard to beat here. The other big chance appears to be Need A Lift, she is another racing in wonderfully good form, she was building a picket fence of victories there for a while, that bubble might have burst but she still has good prospects once again today in this race, Ellie Cockram replaces Takahide Ikenushi to reduce the weight here also. Profound Effect has been well supported of late and probably fair to say hasnt raced as well as his backers would have expected, but he still must be respected in this race. Ye Olde resumes today, he did race well early in his last campaign so may pay to watch as well.

    1. WROUGHTED - 2. NEED A LIFT - 6. PROFOUND EFFECT

    SUGGESTED BET - 1. WROUGHTED $40

R4. Hmas Perth Ships Company Handicap - Gary Wright

Leoluck has been around the place during this campaign, he has even changed trainers and hasnt broken through for a victory as yet, he certainly gets his big chance in this race today. For a Saturday race its fair to say there isnt a lot of depth here and Leoluck does look the best horse in the race, the question is the barrier draw and can he overcome that, hopefully he can do so and finally post a victory. Romp To Fame finished a very close second last start and should get a good run in transit from an ideal draw today, he hasnt won for nearly two years but you would think he is a very good place chance at the least here. Rive Gauche has improved of late, has drawn the extreme outside barrier but should go forward and try and lead, another good place chance in this race. Looking Ahead and last start winner Bedamijo are also chances here.

    2. LEOLUCK - 8. ROMP TO FAME - 5. RIVE GAUCHE

    SUGGESTED BET - 2. LEOLUCK $30

R5. The Wild Turkey Spiced Handicap - Gary Wright

Back To A Walk finished seventh in the Asian Beau to one of the top Railway Stakes hopes in Platinum Rocker, this looks a big drop in class from that sort of field and he could very easily bounce back today from an ideal draw at the 1500 metres. His previous form was impeccable and back to a 72+ race today he looks the goods. He really should race close enough to them today to unleash a good burst in the straight and should win this race, I would imagine he starts favorite but you can invest with confidence. Bippo No Bungus has plenty of ability and has always raced well on the Ascot circuit, she was a good winner here last start blousing out Wroughted two weeks ago, isnt drawn well but probably goes back and is saved for one run at them. Sireeze has been racing well without winning, he will probably appreciate the slightly longer distance here today and is worth thought, as is Sail Maker who is racing against much tougher company these days but making a good fist of it.

    10. BACK TO A WALK - 11. BIPPO NO BUNGUS - 12. SIREEZE

    SUGGESTED BET - 10. BACK TO A WALK $60

R6. Skyy Vodka-WA Champion Fillies Stakes - Gary Wright

The Group 3 feature of the day has brought together a crack field of three year old fillies as is to be expected. The biggest unknown factor here is that none of the runners have run over the mile as yet, so we have to try and work out who may be suited by the extra distance of the race. One that definately seems to be crying out for the extra ground is Via Laurentina, and she does look to be a big chance in this race, she was only beaten a length in the Burgess Queen at her last start and is continuing to improve with every start, she could develop into an Oaks filly in the Autumn. She may be at each way odds in a race like this and is worth an investment today. Miss Rose De Lago won the Burgess Queen and has been a revelation over the last few weeks, she is a top filly and must be very hard to beat once again today, the stable is flying again of late. The other big hope looks to be Arcadia Rose, maybe just a touch disappointing in the Burgess Queen, but only by her lofty standards, her run to win the Belgravia on opening day here was a beauty. One that should eat up the mile is Balmont Girl for the Paula Wagg stable, she should be suited by the mile.

    4. VIA LAURENTINA - 2. MISS ROSE DE LAGO - 3. ARCADIA ROSE

    SUGGESTED BET - 4. VIA LAURENTINA $30 x $30

    R7. R.j. Peters Stakes - Gary Wright

A week out from the Railway and a few of these are probably looking to gain a start in the states richest race next Saturday. Will go with the vastly improved Vermeer, who was a way off this class a year or so ago, but has certainly proven himself since then. He came home really well last start in the Asian Beau to be not far behind Platinum Rocker that day, and has been drawn to get a really good run in this race, he looks extremely hard to beat on his current form. Elite Belle is eligible for much easier than this, but you just get the feeling if she drops out and is saved for a sprint, it suits her better. The problem in this race is finding a leader who will set some sort of speed on up front. Rohan has returned well after a long lay off, another that would appreciate some pace on, he can finish powerfully as well. Kerrific should also come into calculations probable each way odds, the ninth last week doesnt really do him justice, only beaten two lengths in a crack field that day.

    3. VERMEER - 6. ELITE BELLE - 4. ROHAN

R8. The Campari Cin Cin Sprint - Gary Wright

There seems to be three main chances in this final event, one of who is Magnifisio. He returned to racing with a very good second to Shining Knight, that was following on from a stellar Belmont season and he looks the one to beat here from a perfect draw. A lot to like about his chances today, he should race on the speed, Craig Parnham claims 2kgs and he has run into the money at seven of eight starts over the 1200 metres. Mr Utopia could be the surprise packet, he has enormous potential and was one of the stars of the Belmont winter season, he can unleash a withering burst in the Maschino mould at times, look out for his return this afternoon. Modello looks the other major player here, he also has great form at this distance, but certainly the weight here is a worry, even with Ellie Cockram claiming 3kgs, its a lot more to lump this week for Modello. Hard to fault the form of Rubin Sky, he has run very well since joining the Pope stable and maybe a good first four prospect in this race.

    3. MAGNIFISIO - 9. MR UTOPIA - 1. MODELLO

    SUGGESTED BET - 3. MAGNIFISIO $40

    Race 6
(1)Vital Importance-Will get back and beaten long way last 2 starts! No.
(2)Miss Rose De Lago-The likely leader after its last run and must be hard to beat!
(3)Arcadia Rose-How can D.Mac have his 2nd 3rd and 4th selection in front of this filly?Something stinks about this horse as Pike goes off and rides the other stable runner W/Gem!Still i rate this horse as special for today!
    (4)Via Laurentina-Bar Plates back on!No.
(5)Cool Trade-Gutsy effort last start when 3rd behind No2 when raced greenly for the majority of the race!Has Blinkers 1st time and Tongue Tie added,so this must only help!In the mix at good odds.
(6)Get Fath-Needed the run last start, but from draw it might have to sit wide!
(7)Balmont Girl-Will go back from Draw but will be motoring home at the finish!I think it should relish the 1600mtrs!
(8)Sheer Cosmic-Got held up last start but had every chance to win as Fav!No.
(9)Western Gem-I cant knock its form,2 wins 2 starts.Barrier 1 might be its downfall as she might be back 3rd last on the fence! Will be running on and Pike aboard?
    (10)Hard To Express-No.
    (11)Scratched
(12)Decreed-Ran home ok in a shit race over 1400mtrs.At its only 2nd start here and over1600mtrs?No thanks.
    I cant split No 2-3 and 7.
Good luck with the punt and hope all is good Bondy!

If Rohan doesn't win this - then winning the Railway IMHO really seems out of its reach

Will have a little bit on Rebelson :-\"

what frigging tossers..tehya are meant to have thing in place to advice punters about this stuff after the last couple of shamozzles...still got 1.20 on Ozbet....Sky commentary quite rightly very ordinary.. Then they tell Sky there is a traffic problem????.......Amateur hour at its best

    really falcon?? damm
  • TSSTSS    1,401 posts
Traffic issues, should ask all staff to arrive earlier. Maybe it was a plot to boost the pool, but since the favourite won it's egg on face for RWWA.

Ambulance had another job. Jockeys were happy to go but rules are rules.
  • RIORIO    14,902 posts
no probs with the delay..but communicate the reasons to people..Sky having no idea what the problem is, is really bad.. Sounds so dumb when commentator says we have no idea why they are still in eh mounting yard..

Gotta do better, and have made a public statement saying things were in place for delays and cancelled meetings..First chance to test it........................nothing!!!!
