I see Luyckygray is nominated with Trevor Andrews as his trainer. Forgive me if this has been mentioned previously, been busy for a couple of weeks.

This race will be saved only by Smoko running.

in the post race interview on saturday clint price was quite negative about him running...and so he should be, imo.

a few of the darleys will come across.

Gee Shawshank is nominated for everything. I thought after the last two starts, it just needs to find a race with a little less pressure and it will be winning.

What's happened to Fred Kersley's horse Northpace? I thought it would be nominated for the Railway or KT?

Would love to see Buffering come here and try to win his first Group 1, the interstate nominations are quite storng - Spirit Of Boom definitely coming and handles the track here, Bel Sprinter would be an interesting runner with his get back style, Ready to Rip was very good on Saturday first up.

Smoko and Barakey will have some stiff competition if Buffering and the above few show up!

I like the fact that Trevieres is nominated.  Thought his run first up in the G1 Toorak was very good.

Buffering's connections have said for some time that they wanted to come to the Winterbottom.

Only something going wrong on Friday or the Patinack will stop him coming.

Heathcote is definitely coming, Fifi is on her way for the mares series, so reckon this is Buffering's only chance at getting a Group 1 (unless he miraculously wins before getting here)

    No Travinator?

fire up fifi would be hard to beat in that series, considering the conditions of the races. Usually the quality rises to the top.

Depending on what they decide to do with Darlington Abbey ( see she's nominated for the big races ) if they decided to go the Mares series should be pretty competive..

:D and people where saying they would not come back what a joke

    They are nominations, not acceptances.

A really good list of nominations. PR is extremely pleased. Obviously needs to convert into acceptances, but hey, if they had not nominated they could not accept.

Travinator is being set for the short course races including the summer scorcher.
  • Looks potentially a great race. Smoko shouldn't run IMO.
Go through the grades. Will be huge in the future.

  • PrecisionPrecision    295 posts
If Smoko is good enough why not run? If he wins he takes the 300k and then heads east for all future runs most likely at WFA so what do points matter? And if he doesn't win he probably doesn't gain any points and can go back to picking them off through the grades.

the 300k is actually only 245k and you'd want to be sending it east with at least 50k in the slush fund.. If i was the owner i'd nominate, but not really be having my heart in starting. Unless i got a win or two before hand and i felt i was then going to win it..
  • DamienWyerDamienWyer    7,990 posts
If he won he would only have a handful of Group sprints here in WA to run in. almost all else, from Listed company down,  he would be weighted out of contention. So win and off to Melbourne and perhaps return to defend in 2014. But of course he would run into Petrol Power then..........

You run in it, and if you win you sell him quick smart...

Watching today's Prince of Wales, hard to see anything other than Smoko getting in amongst the 1st 3 past the post of the local noms.
If Smoko was mine and I thought he was good enough - Id certainly be having a go. It takes a lot of wins to pick up $260K (less nom fees) - and if he does win this - then at worst he is a WFA horse here - at best he pays his way to the VIc Autumn Carnival

Buffering's experiences with the Flemington straight include a win in
the Group Two Schillaci Stakes last spring and a close second to Hay
List in the 2012 Newmarket Handicap after his third to Black Caviar and
    Hay List in the Lightning.

    After Saturday, Buffering will head
west with Heathcote keen to show him off to Perth fans later this month
    in the Winterbottom Stakes.

Buffering will be accompanied on the
trip by stablemate Fire Up Fifi whose initial foray into Group One
company was a fine third in Saturday's Myer Classic behind the Chris
Waller pair Red Tracer and Catkins.

"Buffering is a good traveller and the people from Perth have been working to get us over there," Heathcote said.

"I haven't had a holiday for 18 months and it would be nice to play a bit of golf and drink a few cold beers.

"Fire Up Fifi has come through the Myer in good shape and will go over for the Railway Stakes."

Won 2 in a row and going for 3!! Turned it around big time. Will be a huge chance. Personally I think there will be so much pace up front it will suit a swooper and my money will be on Spirit Of Boom!
