Indianna Weinert leaving WA

West Australian Racing
Big move, relocating to SA, already purchased property.

Progressive stable, loss to WA I think.

Not sure reasoning but apparently wanted to be closer to bigger racing.

Hope she goes well, definitely has the ability to prosper.

Genuine chance of becoming a leading Trainer in SA and perhaps expanding her customer database. Might also prove a good staging point for WA Owners looking to campaign a horse in Adelaide or Melbourne without paying absolute top level pricing.

South Australian racing doesn't appear as strong or incestuous so Indianna has a very good chance for success

One thing I should have said, stakes money in SA is simply nowhere. The leading Trainer in the State is just over $1M in total won, so that is 25% of WA

They are also non competitive to the raiders from Melbourne and Sydney.  As soon as they have a race worth decent money they raiders come and take the prize.   I believe I heard the Sangster had only 2 of 13 runners being SA horses.  The Derby was 4 of 16 even though they produced the winner

You could say similar things happen in WA for the major Group 1 races and the Quokka but in SA the listed races get raided!

The drive to do so being the trip from Albany to town is mind boggling

Yep , went to Morphettville last October on a Saturday and could'nt believe the low crowd number . Port Lincoln had double the crowd of Adelaide a week later .

I remember going to the Morphettville betting auditorium on a non race day to have a bet in 1996. Only time I've been there.

Morphettville is undergoing an urban development of the former overflow carpark and stables, some 7.5HA.  It is the sole remaining racecourse in Adelaide metro.

Cheltenham was of course lost to developers almost 20 years ago, I drove past it a last year and all that remains is a stone wall which I think was the old entrance.

Victoria Park of course saw the F1 take it over and public open space.

Gawler is the 'Pinjarra' of the Northern corridor, it's undergone an amazing transformation since I was a kid growing up in Elizabeth. The township is substantial compared to my youth. The catchment area would be the Clare Valley and out to Two Wells I would imagine.

Breeding is not substantial as far as I know, around a dozen vendors for most yearling sales with Magic Millions adjacent to the Morphettville track.

Does the John Paul Young, theory Love is in the Air mean she has a bloke in the trotting game who was moving there and invited her...

Is this Saturday's Belmont Sprint the last WA hurrah for Indianna Weinert and Smooth Chino prior to her move to SA ? Does anyone think his 106 rating based on just WA form will be found wanting moving across to essentially a Melbourne Carnival scene ?

Don't get me wrong, he is a very good horse, but I think he will need to come down a little in rating to perhaps get a kilo off his back for him to find success at the higher levels.

Not at all, that’s basically a group 3 horse over there and he is easily competitive at that level.

A horse like Malibu Style hit 104 over there and was competitive in plenty of listed and group 3 races.   Smooth Chino has a bit on a horse like that
