Didn't watch the race but saw Racing.Com video on Coolangatta.
Jamie Kah said Coolangatta has come back bigger and stronger and beat GigaKick hard held in a trial.
So not surprised at today's result.
    Spewing I wasn't on it. :-&

I caught the train late today but just backed Lindsey Smith's 3rd winner at Warrnambool, Mawallock..he has an undeniable chance to make it 4 from 7 races in the lucky last too.

Stable states onwards they go i just reckon he has peaked or did in the UK actually and there is only one way to go now..was still very competitive in a few races after but that run last week(and a couple that went past him late)suggest he might be regressing..which i might add is ok he is rising 9 after all.

Zaaki who is not quite his level but the winner of many big races is showing signs too...worse actually.
Plain in a recent trial and some average trackwork has seen his prep put on hold all together so no ASM for him at all..also rising 9 iirc.

Yep, Jmac has fd up on Golden Slipper eve and rightly copped a suspension seeing him miss 4 group 1's, 3 are plum Godolphin rides too - Cylinder, Anamoe and Pericles add Lost And Running in the Galaxy.

Oopsy! the missus was cursing him I bet :D
Though there are clearly good replacements in Sydney town after last weekend i'd be on the blower to Zac Purton....
  • tonytony    2,436 posts
I think Zac said a day or so ago that as the HK derby was on that weekend he would not be available as he did wanted to concentrate on the derby without travelling on the Saturday.

For all the learned people out there, why doesn’t Fred Kersley get more rides than he does.
I know he spends time out with injuries, but I see he only has 2 rides at Flemington on Saturday.
On one of those social media racing things where jockeys are asked a series of questions like which race would you most like to win, most said Cox plate or Melbourne Cup. Fred answered a Saturday Race at Flemington. Does he not have the winning mentality ???
    :-?

Idk Det i reckon he is too casual looking on very much from afar.
Must be making a quid decent enough to get by? And is happy with that.

I think he is a pretty good jock just doesn't have the drive..plus it isn't easy there either, Chris Parnham struggled.

I know he used to ride for Cumani and maybe Maroney but just doesn’t seem to get the break through.
Even at the provincials he never gets a full book.
Wonder how he would go in W.A ?
  • ThunderstruckThunderstruck    7,696 posts
Again unsure mate but I reckon he doesnt want to(recall Cumani saying once he is a different character bit of a trendy/snappy dresser)so maybe Melbourne possibly holds appeal/suits his lifestyle.
Would make it here for sure imo, might take a while to get some support.

On to the great racing over East tomorrow but also want to mention one in NZ.

Mike Moroney has sent one of my favourite horses (just because she is such a trier + often starts good to juicy odds)Nerve Not Verve over to run in the Auckland Cup.He seems to think she will run the trip only concern is the barrier and how easily she can get to near or on speed and not get caught deep.
She will run a gallant race I reckon, i'm still a bit impressed how she burnt Persan last start and the stable is fairly confident with luck she can run a big race. The fav down on the limit looks hardest to beat but is no surer of running a strong 2 miles than the Verve.

There are 2 other good bets on the card at Pukehoe beforehand, one is short as now Tokyo Tycoon and the other Prowess takes on the older horses at WFA in the feature race.I've had a Win/Place multi on these two, fairly confident I'll collect and bet on Nerve Not Verve for "free".

Sydney and Flemington are laced with quality and good tracks anticipated at both joints, as we know headquarters can throw up some rough results.Nevertheless at this stage at least I'm confident of backing a few winners!

In the Newmarket I like I Wish I Win and reckon the 3yo colt Buenos Noches is the testing material with 50.5.. Ben Thompson is in great form too.

A couple of races earlier the 5th, I really think Barb Raider or So You See are comfortably the two best winning hopes.Cuzzy Mike trains the latter lol

Scrap that..suspension reduced to 4 meetings on appeal LOL

"Should not be a precedent" said the stipe..well bud wtf else could it be??

I'll be pissed if a pearler of a ride by him on Cylinder beats one of mine narrowly in the Slipper.

Stuff me Hope my luck improves I was on Fluorescent Star at the Valley just now, deadset travelling into like the winner too but clips heels and goneski..hopefully jock Teo Nugent is ok, these frequent falls are becoming problematic I fear the worst.

    Zahra 36 meetings
Any ongoing inquiries into the Craig Williams and Jamie Kah incidents.?
  • thefalconthefalcon    20,485 posts
with the amount of dosh zahra has made since the cup, despite the sydney carnival, he'll just pack the family up and head to some exotic location.
36 meetings would  equate to how many weeks? do they count every single meeting in victoria?

My bloke, Velorum, running at Toowoomba on Saturday night.
Would have liked to have got a 925m trial into him last week at Toowoomba, but they were cancelled.
Hasn't raced for a while but does meet a pretty average bunch.
