Hi all,
The Falcon has asked me to pass on to the forum, that he is currently in intensive care in hospital as a result of contracting Covid. He began feeling unwell on Tuesday, saw his doctor on Thursday, was put straight into hospital and has been receiving constant treatment, anti-biotics and anti-virals since yesterday.

I spoke to him this afternoon my time in Melbourne, and he sounds really good. In fact, I told him that his voice sounds better  today, than it did in the 4 weeks we spent together in Perth. He is starting to feel a lot better and with further treatment he will, I am sure, make a full recovery. He had nothing but the fullest praise for the nurses and medical staff at the hospital.

He will be in hospital till around the middle of next week, when, all being well,he will be discharged, healthy and fit,  and able to resume his normal activities.

He would like me on his behalf, and I would like to join with him, in wishing you all a very merry Christmas, and a happy and above all healthy New Year.

My wife and I got it a week after returning from Perth. Our darling granddaughter gave it to us.

I didn't have any symptoms other than a slight cough. My wife whose got underlying medical conditions taking 36 tablets a day, was bedridden for two weeks, and has only just very slowly come good. She's probably got another few weeks to recover from it completely, but it can be very debilitating for some, yet not affect others.

Your wife is very lucky, Rodent. You would like to think that the antibodies she got from having bout number 1 have helped mitigate this attack.

Yes, we are fortunate. I can't seem to get it. I tested negative again and haven't been sick at all.

Youve got to be kidding mate - the 2nd part of your sentence - and by the way all the very best to The Falcon - and when he gets home - they give him another Xmas dinner

But 6-7 years ago i had a short stay in hospital - it was nothing a non event - medically

But the food was 1st class - its actually a Catering racket - funded by Medicare - a couple of ladys representing the catering companys would come to your bedside each morning - with clipboards - with order forms - and they want to tick as many boxes as possible - because it means Net Profit to them

Thus they were extremely polite to you - the conversation would go something like this - would you like some raisin bread - Yes - would you like some yogurt - Yes - would you like a snack bar - Yes - would you like some cereal Yes - and so on - the more boxes they ticked - the more profit for them

I had this little Aboriginal bloke - it was 2 to a room - and he was in with me- everyone liked him ( even me - although he loved snipping me for a tenner for a coffee ) the Nurses - the cleaners - no one was in a hurry to get rid of him - they were trying to line up permanent accomodation for him

I said to him - mate youve got to play your cards right - youve got a TV Monitor above your bed - your getting grilled fish - icecream and yogurt - tell them you feel funny in the head - and weak in 1 arm - you can be here for another 6-9 mths - where as if they line up that permanent hostel accomodation - you will be getting baked beans - hah

I have just spoken to the Falcon.

He's feeling much better, but, to say the least, he's not too happy about the isolation.

They will test him today, and if he's negative, he's hoping to be moved to another ward for a few days of respite, where at least he's got some company, can move around, and sit outside and get a bit of sun.

In light of Markovina's post about hospital food,I asked him what the food was like. He gave me a one word description "sh!t"!

He would also like Rodent, SlipperGolden and Arapaho to know, that he is showering himself,  as he didn't want to shock the nurses, both female and male, should their eyes have wandered to his nether regions.

I have read him all the posts, and he's had a good laugh at them. He wanted me to express his deep appreciation at everyone's concern for his health.

I will have a further update in a few days.

Hope he got on that one TS.....for a place!!!! haha

Over the past 12 months we've been in a few hospitals and not one of them could we ever complain about the food. One hospital even had the chef come in during the early afternoon to ask how we wanted certain food prepared!!!

Got a feeling Old Falcon may have been Grumpy old Falcon!!!!! hahaha
