Lol I read somewhere their liability was around 3 mil if it wins, is that around 30,000 people that got on? ..
I missed the odds before they greened out and wound it in..and I agree that's soft harden up you pussies and cop a loss..how stupid were you to think it wouldn't be very popular same same the Anamoe one.

Also bet ther reconsidering the World Cup one also..NRL AFL and NBA were the other offers haven't looked to see if all are available still.

not sure the word you are looking for is gutless?
I dont think they thought through their promotion very well though.

Indeed but why didn't they Diva? This guy Tripp is supposed to be a guru yeh? .... should have limited it upfront? First 10,000 customers or something wouldn't have as much egg on their faces then...

Blind Freddy would know many thousands even tens of thousands would jump in..Anamoe was a good thing, it remains to be seen whether this raider is though...but $10 to win a thousand and a 1 in 20 chance or less to win its a no brainer also.

They have also now pulled the pin on a number of teams in the soccer, afl and nrl promos too(bugger it I was gonna back Brazil or the bargies too slow)
..the honeymoon is well and truly over lol.

I will stick with gutless, the corporates are just like a tote now very little price competition between them all and if you are backing winners you get banned or limits set.Whereas as a loser they will bombard you with offers and never ending ads and let now talk about where the profits go.

I'm not a fan of the corporates and agree with your comments generally Yankee but  in this case I think Betr should be applauded. I'm not sure why people here and on twitter are having a crack at them. They had the balls to offer $21 Anamoe and $101 promotions on the Cup, FIFA World Cup, NBA, AFL and NRL. They paid out straightaway when Anamoe won. They offered double your money back in bonus bets (up to $100) on Cox Plate Day and Derby Day and the first 2 races on Cup day if your horse ran 2nd-5th.

They only shut down the $101 offer on the 2 Cup favourites when their liability became too big (they reportedly signed up 300,000 new members. If only 10% of those had $10 on Deauville Legend they would have been facing a 30 million dollar pay out. It was very likely much more than that). And they were entitled to try to limit their liability by betting back with Tabcorp and other corporates and by inviting punters to cash in their $10 on Deauville Legend for $150 in bonus bets which punters were free to accept or reject (you could have laid the bet off on Betfair on Friday at $3.78 if you were so inclined and turned that $10 into a no risk $334 and you can still do that with any of the other $101 promotions - though the favourites in the other markets have now been wound in to $10 if you're not on already). Trying to limit their exposure when they're facing losses of $30 million or more is hardly being gutless.

Lots of punters will have had a small windfall. And noone is obliged to continue to bet with them.

I would say the deactivation of account has something to do with multiple accounts being opened to take advantage of the promo.
Having said that... its fair to say they have right royally stuffed up this promo.
Given its melbourne cup, it would be fair to say the wife has opened an account too... to have a punt on the cup at 100/1.
Then there's the issue of inducements to open accounts... which has always been a fine line that has been tread by bookmakers.
at the end of the day.. a bookmaker WANTS you to sign up and punt your A$$ off... BUT, they cant be seen to be encouraging us to punt our A$$es off.... so its a real conundrum.

But please.... some people will whinge about anything... 100/1 about every runner in the cup and people are up in arms?

Yes I think multiple accounts at one address/same credit card used have been flagged and suspended.  Happened to my wife and she didn’t back the winner.  There was a link to reactivate the account once you prove you actually exist which is fair enough.  I bet there are hundreds out there that have multiple accounts under false names and they will do their doe which is fair enough

Have a search for the corporates issues in the UK and don't worry as we are always behind the times here in Australia these dealings will be coming here also.If you have decent win or series of wins they can freeze your account and ask to inspect all your bank accounts under the premise of weeding out problem gamblers whereas they are really try to find out if you are a professional punter and thus gives them the right to refuse your business,so basically in the UK if you are able to bet freely with decent bets i'm afraid you must be a loser.Even here i think we all know punters you have had their bet size limited or access to promotions declined. Now there have been many cases of people/punters/gamblers (cannot use that tag investor) that have decided to take them to court, but out come the expensive legal team with their barristers and a quick forecast of their costs and time involved usually consigns the case to the bin.Getting back to BetR, was great advertising and i wish them well in their venture but already the product is the same or worse than existing and their website has been cobbled together quickly to catch the carnival but i am sure will improve now is there a betting market for most ads BetR V Sportsbet?

“already the product is the same or worse than existing”

    100% correct
A few 100/1 bets gets people onboarded but doesnt mean they will punt with you loyally all the time. You still need to offer the best price, the best promos and pay people quicker than ladbrokes

Remember when existing account holders (punters) got a spotters fee if there name was attached to a new signing. Mate was approached to sign-up know big punters from the track he was to be paid a % of there losses over 12 month period he was told in his best interests not to recruit any regular winners .
He declined thinking he couldn't hope for people he knew to lose
.At the time Moonee valley trots was going he was told one punter had won 15 weeks straight and 45 weeks in 52.he would only invest 200 Friday morning. So that corporate  desk boys would bet 600 with others on his bets
So they play to win any which way.Goggle Densie Coates see how tough she does it bet 365. Bar you at the drop of a hat

I don’t think the percentage those bookie affiliates are getting paid is very much?

Definitely not worth following the punters bets on the occasion they might win, you’d end up losing whatever small percentage you’re paid from your cut by trying to follow their winners
