R1- SNIPILLICIOUS can rebound back to the 1000m here. Was a month between runs going into the 1200m Westspeed Platinum final last start and while he wasn’t disgraced he didn’t do a lot despite finding a commanding position in running. His trials leading into this prep were good and his first up win was brilliant after showing an electric turn of foot to kick away from rivals on straightening after getting off the leaders back. Looks to get that same run here from barrier one and will just need that same split to go close.

R2- Best Bet: VIA MONTE returns first up no trial for an in form Dan Morton team. First up last prep he won well against a couple of other handy 3yos before running couple of seconds to Spin The Knife and against the older horses behind Material Witness. He finished the campaign with a strong victory over the older horses and consistently produced strong figures throughout the campaign. If he can bring that form here he’ll be very hard to hold out from leaders back.

R3- LORD GANNICUS has trialled really nicely in each of two trials. Those trials were two months apart, the first of which was a close up third behind Magnaburma and Aiyza who both go okay after sitting deep throughout. The more recent trial was even better when taking 5-6L off the leader in the straight to grab it on the line without being asked to get to top gear in pretty good time. Has the gate speed to hold a spot in this field and looks to have a future.

R4- SNIPAROOCHY was back to her best when sent forward and rolling last start. Her trial this prep when taking a sit was good but she didn’t seem to be as efficient with the sit on raceday so we’ll chalk her first two runs up to a failed experiment. She was simply brilliant last start to get away from her rivals with such ease in slick time. That race has already stood right up as a form reference producing two quinellas and as long as 1400 isn’t too far for her she should add to that. Rolls forward again and despite going up a grade this doesn’t look harder.

R5- IT’SARAYDAY is quality horse flesh returning in a 72+. Embarked on a Guineas path last prep that saw him run a brave second in the Belgravia and win a moderate edition of the Fairetha. It’s a shame more 3yos who probably aren’t milers don’t aim at the Winterbottom in Summer and think he is a prime example as he looks a serious sprinter in the making. His recent trial was a pleasure to watch and from one he can bounce out, tow ball Ziebell and pounce. Would love to see a soft win for him to back up into the Roma Cup.

R6- DOUBLE SPICE is starting to fulfil the promise he showed early in his career under the care of Neil Dellar. Started first up in an Esperance class two with 61kg and won well in what became a strong form race before beating up on a small 58+ field again with weight. Came to town on a Saturday and was smashed in betting when almost a moral beat. Has run second at his last two when forced to lead from wide gates with apprentices on. Freshened for this, tick. Laqdar back on, tick. Drawn low to stalk the speed, tick. Lovely set up for him.

R7- TENA KOUTOU looks a horse still on the way up. Was probably only just reaching peak fitness last start fifth up into a feature race having had two mile runs and two 2000m+ runs to really have him right. That Albany Cup win was a big effort to maintain a circling run from last with 58kg and now finds the perfect next step for him here. Gets in perfectly on the minimum as a scaled down 84+ and although barrier one probably isn’t ideal if he can find a way through at the right time this looks a race for him.

R8- GENERAL GRANT looks ready to make the step up to the staying trip here. Brings a solid fitness base into this coming out of two 1800 runs at his last two including a solid second in the brutal Buster Bash race that unsurprisingly has become a strong form race. The run prior to that was actually a victory in higher grade when being put into the race early and grinding out the late closers. Sticks to 60+ grade here and if he can find a way to stay off the fence and get into the race at the right time he looks a little more progressive than these.

R9- SPECIAL VIEW was an improver down in class last start but this also looks a nice option for him back up in grade. Looked well placed last start into a 60+ with 56.5kg and he rolled along at a strong speed and was able to battle away to run a close third. Now comes back up to a 70+ but is only just outside the handicap and after the claim drops 4.5kg on last start. While this is a stronger field there are still no standouts and if he rolls along like last start with 52kg he’ll make himself hard to get past.

R4 Charelton Eddie down in grade with the claim should have this lot snookered
R5 Favourite hard to beat but ex vic Seberate will improve massively for first WA run. Each Way
R6 The very honest Flicka's Chance goes well fresh and is a great each way chance
R7 Roman Flirt has been average lately but this distance suits and will improve here
R8 Secret Pearl. Recent form has been deplorable. Placed nearly 50% prior to last 5 runs.  Money for it two starts back and it can improve at odds in this.
R9 Pretty Friar first up over the mile is interesting. Worth an each way interest

I like your logic.  But they did bring up "WORTH A RISK" in race 6 for the canter.....  :D

Special View was laid heavily on Betfair. Must've known the tactics they'd employ on Great Powers.

Win of the day for me was "Ray".

Forget maybe about stretching him to a mile again It'sarayday looks a Winterbottom horse all day, his sire was a jet 1200M horse.

Recall hearing Miller say last campaign he doubted he would get the 1600 but those were the races available to him.

Reckon he has shaken the “Carvery” tag.
Started to come consistently good when he got the opportunities to ride Bobs first stringers like Midnight Blue in the Cup. Confidence boost ??
