I'm dead keen on The Candy Man in the Hollindale at 100s.

    Would be a sweet win

^:)^ Explosive Jack..Maher didn't rule out tackling the Qld Derby off a 3 week break..if he pulls up well he wins that too.

Before Explosive Jack who was the last horse to win two Derbies in an Australian season? Delicacy - 2015?

think your right WA and SA versions?
  • ThunderstruckThunderstruck    7,696 posts
Horses welfare comes first but i hope they have a crack in Qld if he is well.

Thunderstruck - yep you're right. Delicacy won the WA and SA Derbies.

But I actually made a mistake in my original post.

Who was the last horse (before Explosive Jack) to win THREE Derbies in an Australian racing season?

Explosive Jack - Tasmanian Derby, ATC Derby, South Australian Derby.

Dayana won 4 Derbies, Tulloch won 3 Derbies, Silver Sharpe won 3 Derbies, Royal Sovereign won 3 Derbies, Stormy Rex won 3 Derbies, Explosive Jack has won 3 Derbies (might win QLD Derby), have i missed anyone in terms of horses to win 3 Derbies or more in Aust racing season??

Just a lazy 4th winner for J Kah

Was a little quiet by her standards for several weeks due to making a few trips north for feature days and winning the group 1 Doncaster plus a group 2 in Sydney.
Got back to Melbourne and after a little break(maybe got suspended not sure)has got her mojo back in a big way, since last Saturday has had 15 rides for 10 winners and likely wins race 2 at Geelong tomorrow to go 11/16.
Her Adelaide book looks solid without being outstanding but on her former home deck and in this form could easily see her steer a couple more winners home..What a star she is.

Realm Of Flowers - nice win the Listed Andrew Ramsden Stakes (2800m WFA) at Flemington plus gets automatic entry into the Melbourne Cup and is exempt from the ballot/order of entry.

Was $201 for the Melbourne Cup in April and was in the 80s even yesterday (Friday). With that win Realms Of Flowers is now into $21 and as short as $18 in some markets.

As equally impressive as the winner noteworthy also was how average Miami Bound was in defeat, she got owned.

I know its a long way out from Melbourne Cup day but would it be a good idea for the trainers and/or owners to approach Jamie Kah and ask her if she would like to ride Realm Of Flowers in the Melbourne Cup? I assume she should be able to make the weight for the Cup - let's assume it's in the range of 50kg to 52kg, plus as we all know Jamie is a very good rider.

Just a thought thats all. It wouldn't hurt for the connections to get on the front foot and chat to Jamie or her manager and discuss things.
  • ThunderstruckThunderstruck    7,696 posts
Definitely a good idea to sound her out.
Read something recently where she said she can do 51.5 without too much hassle after she rode Ayrton i think it was, so the weight allotted should be ok.
She may have a few options so not sure if she would be prepared to commit but definitely worth asking the question.
  • thefalconthefalcon    20,486 posts
be more than a "few options", thunder...you'd be lucky to get thru to her manager..their phone would be perpetually engaged..

her manager wouldn't be her partner, claydon douglas would it?
  • ThunderstruckThunderstruck    7,696 posts
Yeh not sure he could well be, just vaguely recall her mentioning someone but not him.
Has options aplenty this spring no doubt.
