So why isn't anything said about the farcical tempo I'm the Natasha. Well done the winner, she is unbeatable when gets her own way. But you can have it both ways. She'll beat them again if left alone, good luck @hash

I’m sooking this week because I didn’t back her.
Different race this week. Carvery rode his horse to at least give his horse a chance to win.
Lucy didn’t hand up when another lunatic tried to do a Carvery.
Stewards obviously had nothing to report this week. But at least their consistent with their inconsistency.

was at ascot yesterday...dining at flying colours (could recommend it to everybody). went downstairs mid arvo...only 2 bookies, styleform and scott thornett. trevor b. was in the book but his stand was vacant and wrapped up. there were only 2 old guys in "the ring", i made it 3. a few of the regulars at the main bar.
after we were kicked out of the cafe ( drink bill $317) we went down to stone motherless, the joint was chokers, dunno where they came from. the 1st floor was averagely packed, the cafe on the 1st floor was packed as was the members floor.
just goes to show while there doesn't seem to be many "downstairs" a lot goes on where the normal punter does not go or see.
car parks are a good indication.

Are you saying that Knuckey and Whiting were being lunatics by putting their mounts on pace? What would you suggest they do, given the pace was so slow? It appeared even slower than the race when you sooked up for a week
  • detonatordetonator    4,397 posts
Yeah I soaked it up for a week because I did my dough and I thought the Carvery tactics were dodgy at best. Probably also spurred on by the fact the stewards thought it was worth an enquiry even though the outcome was predictable.
I did not back Solaia this week and prepared to not comment on how the race unfolded because I did not feel aggrieved as I was last week.
That was right up until you pushed my buttons with your sook comment.
The lunatic comment was a bit of tongue in cheek and a throw away line. Maybe if they hadn’t made the move they did one of them might have snuck a place. Don’t care really.
Solaia deserved the win. Pretty decent horse I reckon.
The slow pace discussion has and will  be ongoing at Ascot because of the track configuration and the short straight. Taking them on is suicide and letting them go is suicide as well.
