    What a joke owners aren't the first allowed back on course. We are the ones that make the industry possible but the joke that is PR is only concerned about the non spending blue rinse brigade.

    To be fair - it's the members club.
    Owners belong to RWWA, and RWWA doesn't control the venue.

    No ONE entity makes racing possible possible combined we all make it the great industry it is. When was the last time you rode your horse in a race to victory ? Just pointing out the obvious, we need JOCKEYS !!!! Just like we need owners and members

    Smart move members first might be an opportunity to acquire some new members and outnumber some of the hardened veterans who have been ruling the roost.

    new members? you jest. the "hardened veterans" have not been ruling the roost...the poor bas*ards have not had a say for years....that Dutchman saw to that.
    a good pal of mine resigned from the board...no reasons given, but i think i can guess.
    cost..about $700, its due again 31st july.

    Can you explain the difference in a hardened veteran member and a newbie, do you mean in the way where an old member takes a specific parking spot each week and won’t budge... or the same old member that gets there 3 hours before the first to secure his lucky pencil they put out for him?

    No way a membership is 750$. You can get a club membership for 465$ which comes with a free guest pass too or a young member membership for 220$ plus perks. I have found the memberships really affordable and useful

    I think if they organise a protest on course on Saturday, they can have as many as they want on course.

    I realize we need jockeys but if you don't have owners paying up for horses jockeys have nothing to ride, trainers have nothing to train and members don't have anything to watch. All industry participants are key but the people putting their hard earned down are the ones that should be put first. It should really be a directive from RWWA to the clubs.

    Its a bit like the ole chicken or the egg first.

    Maybe the owners and trainers should all take there horses to some bush track and race there for zero dollars.

    Race clubs, Trainers, Jockeys, Horses, Owners. They all need each other. And in my eyes are all equally relevant.

    Did anybody get to the track today ? How did you find the day and the facilities, not the grandstand so much but with the restrictions etc is it worth going for you at present ?

    i didn't go but i think 100 were up in the members area, another 200 hundred dispersed on other parts of the grandstand.

    As one who is of the "retirement home" demographic, I greatly resent ageist commentary. I try, not always successfully, to refrain from becoming bitter and twisted. You seem to have great difficulty finding anything to be positive about. I'd plant a rose garden if I were you....

    Gates open everywhere now. Full steam ahead.
    The Government has allowed the protests everywhere therefore they cannot hold back any other sporting event from opening the gates.
    Back to the races next Saturday.

    But when they do open gates,there are going to be so many stipulations,you can't do this, you can't do that, you can't go there,it might be better staying at home,until it's gets back to something like normal,I see AFL are going to apply to have limited crowds of 10,000,going to be enteresting what is decided in the next week.

    Good point,I think a lot would I w.think a lot have come this far,and another month or 2 is not going to hurt now.

    yes, but what about contact sports..that's open slather..blood and saliva all over the place.
    i went to my local yesterday arvo and distancing rules were out the door...as is was with scores of pubs around the metro area....if there are scores left...

    ^^^. Easy for you to say when you clearly don’t have a job or business relying on opening up more.  All the people saying just stay the course would be either public servants or retirees.

    Today we let the “left” protest because politicians are weak as piss whilst as a country we are trying to get over a pandemic and an economic apocalypse but then they want us to hold firm on social distancing. Haahahaahaahahaaa. I mean, let’s get farking real here. The horse has bolted.

    Note: Im not saying the cause of the protest was not worthy because it very much was, but just putting this stupidity into context. You can march in a group of 50k, but numbers are reduced in pubs and clubs etc

    And what are the economic consequences of a recession? Becos we were headed there before the virus hit-at least the pandemic actually provoked the government to FINALLY intervene and stimulate some demand. If you're gonna prioritise the economy then open the lot up-especially the airlines. We know that those returning from overseas bring the virus in like it's a souvenir. Let this thing rip thru the population and see how the hospitals handle it. Good luck. We saw what happened to Boris Johnson and his herd immunity ****.
