Running in the apprentices event and seen a few upsets in these type of races from time to time, and this'd be a huge one, ~:> the grey mare Cockatiel. She's nearly the rank outsider, can only try.

The horse keen to see is in race 5 - scratched from last Saturday - Warfish, been interesting in a short career, can run races in patches a little bit, a couple of times has looked gone only to be running on well again at the end, seen him lead, race close up and get back in the field. Going on the 2 x 6 basis.

Then final race - the Russian is back - the Black Russian first up over 1400, just the journey some of the first up staying types get up in at odds. Might be one to follow in the winter months over a journey if runs on tomorrow.

Good luck if having a dabble.

+1 -1

Race 4, at 1444hr's, number 4, from barrier 4, 4 word name, 4yo gelding... that'll do me. Hasn't been too far away without any luck, 20/1 calls for a little each way.

Problem with that theory is the race will run at 1447 ;))

Obviously Campbell Rawiller is worth keeping an eye on in the challenge too but the young QLD lad Adin Thompson steers ok, he rode a double at Eagle Farm last Saturday I think he can make the grade for sure..with that said I see his mount and Kelly's Gem fighting it out, the latter is well overdue and just needs a peachy ride from another promising kid from SA Lachy Neindorf..at around $3.90 and $4.40 I'll likely back both.

R5 i like The Nicconian up against your Warfish @riders
R6 surely the very unlucky City Circle and Chrissy Parnham atone for last start and get the choccys..
One of these will hopefully fund R7 bets.

    Good punting fellas..

Whose the kid that’s replaced Kate Southam on the toppie in the apprenticeship race.. before the markets went up I had a feeling it would start short and be hard to beat with her on but now with the late jockey change I’ve got buckley’s

S.A lad Neindorf is striking at 13.3% and is fresh off a Morphetville double last Saturday, no offence to the local rider but he is a step up imo.
Whilst he is riding ascot for the first time from barrier 3 should give it every chance @hash..has 2 earlier sighter rides one of which is a decent chance too.

Had a pittance on it for a place. Had a lot more on the win. Some bets at > 200-1. 4 deep the breeze if you don't mind  ~X(

Cockatiel at around 33/1, she actually wasn't too bad, but that's now three times in a row got me, will give one more try to get a cracker back off the cocky ~:> Long road to hoe with her.

Warfish did it both ends - looked beaten a few times up the straight - kept on kick, kick, kicking. Never have wished the winning post to come up so much.

Black Russian - the Russkie jumped at 40/1 Tabtouch and ran accordingly - dropping out badly just before the corner....now however when crossed the line was stretching out ok. Must've just been getting warm. That's being very kind though! Other days over a journey hopefully await for him.

Riders what’s your take on the quaddie today
Bit disappointing for mine considering only one sub lobbed and a 40/1 pop won

Can only go all up tote and/or all up fixed odds as a bit of a guide Hash.
    Tote it was $4.20, $42, $4.50 and $2.10.

    That's only about $1,666.
Think all up on Tabtouch fixed about the same give or take a little bit.

    $2,876 the quaddie paid - who's complaining!

    Warfish was a certainty haha.
Last two winners, strong stable, cerise and white - with Pike on the 10/9 fave in the last. The apprentice race Adin Thompson he's quite popular with eastern states punters. Good hoop.

The $42 winner...well that helped to lift it up to nearly 3k. I'd be happy with that, especially having cerise and white winning final two with Pike on the hot pot.

The first four dividend on the double jackpot race was a ripper of over 3k.

Smallish field - limited winning chances, was going to anchor the two roughies - Cockatiel and the runner up ( can't think of its name ) for one of them to run either second or third.

Nope talked myself out of it.
  • Ridersonthestorm33Ridersonthestorm33    10,942 posts
...and the Warfish first four dividend - big big one with a jackpot component not selected - if I did that bet the other fave's would run 2,3,4.

Reckon it's a silly bet to do but when it comes off like that dividend - who's laughing now!

In the Millers Guide publication they use to do the record trifecta dividends and for many many years it was on a Toorak Handicap at Caulfield in the 70s or 80's will recall the horses when look up results of the Toorak.

The winner amazingly was only around 6/1, with second and third both around 100/1...can't remember the record divvy now - might have been 15k but that was just for a 50 cent dividend from memory...so $30,000 for full $1 dividend.

Toorak would've had 18 starters but the winner was well fancied. So it can pay off.

    I feel your pain Rodent.

I had the quaddie Warfish/F/F/Divine Shadow for 50%.

Saw young Rawiller winding up down the outside and thought he was going to run Pike down.

Would have netted over 5K :((
