    Bunbury Race 6
Courageous Disco led on 18/12/17, 31/12/2017, 9/1/2018, 28/1/2018 led never handed up.
Hasnt been able to lead since in 5 starts.
Led Tuesday night ,hands up when no pressure on to the heavily supported runner. $4.80 into $2.10
    No questions asked by stewards.

4 starts in a row when able to lead, holds lead,
Another example why harness racing is heading down the path to extinction.

Is there any wonder harness racing is dead and had that percieved image of all being crooks.

Take a look at Shepperton Race 9

    http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fields/race-fields/?mc=SP170718

I think im calling time harness racing.

Time has come as the industry shrinks, to implement new rules regarding stablemates competing
in the same race and as blatant as driver Robert waters attempt to improve the chances of his stablemate by not driving his horse to finish in the best possible position and at the same time, affect the finishing position of the favourite.

In this case mr. Robert waters your right to accept with more then one runner in
any race, for the next twelve months has been removed..

Problem is  infiltrating the galloping code as well

Why don't you articulate it properly. Just because you see a race ran a certain way according to who you've backed doesn't mean it's the same from a different persons perspective.

    Sorry grumpy early morning

The driver of the horse than runs last from pouring on the speed also being the trainer of the eventual winner also. Id suggest one was used as the sacrificial lamb for his other. Thus also killing the short price favs chances. Walters seems to spend a bit of time looking to see where his other runner is throughout the race.

Id suggest theres a bit more to come from this race based on the stewards report.

Winner was well backed i believe.

Nathan Jack drives the winner haha

    • Put simply leader $43 not driven to advantage its own chances beaten 61.8m
    • Leader driven to disadvantage favourite
    • Leader driven to advantage stablemate

I'll stay out of Shepparton, the pictures say it all......but different people see things differently. My little filly won a race at GP last night and I walk in to the Paper Shop this morning and a local expert says "You buggered up last night, did everything you can to lose and still won"....Pardon me????....Geezus, it was all I could do to stifle a stream of invective. Little filly, had quite a few issues, racing against older horses, wins a race...from the breeze, an expert training and driving achievement...you take whatever you can get in racing, as far from "buggering up" as you can possibly get. Some people, honestly!!!

Yeah I was looking for something else. It all makes perfect sense. Happens a dozen times a month at least.

Firstly..congratulations on the win JJ. Secondly...nothing annoys me more than listening to glib negative smarties taking cheap shots of that nature A. if you get beaten you pulled your horse up and B if you win you didn't mean to and made a mistake. Dickheads need to do a few shifts picking up manure in horseyards at 5 am in the middle of winter to smarten them up.

Cheers @curmudgeon, couldn't agree more .....or maybe even enduring the long hauls around the country late at night trying to etch out a quid .....they have no idea how hard the trainers, stablehands and drivers work....trackwork at 6.00am in blinding rain on a bog surface, washing down horses and gear....I have the utmost admiration for all of these people, very few live the high life and toads who take cheap potshots give me the complete irrits.Nonetheless, a win, even in a very minor race has them feeling a great sense of achievement and able to laugh off the Potshot Petes of the world.

I was walking back to the float with a horse I have a tiny share in, the jockey and the trainer. I was rapt with all concerned, we had just run 2nd. Our bloke has a trait of being slowly out and was this day but better than usual. Jock jumped on the back of the fav with 600m to go, beautifully weaved through the field and got to the outside of him but he was way too good winning by a couple of lengths but our bloke was very game and has a lot to learn and still beat the 3rd horse by a similar margin. If you scripted it you couldn't have asked for any more.

So we are walking back to the float and this legend pipes up "you did a bloody good job of pulling that one up mate, couldn't have tried any harder to get it beat".

Fair dinkum there is just no point at even piping up at some people they see things how they want to see them. Far better throwing that energy at the trainer/jockey combo for their great efforts and being excited about where you head to next time.

Can someone tell me is the John Higgins a 9 horse race because it is programmed to be so or because it fell away?

We have had some fantastic racing of late due largely to the bigger field sizes as well as we are finally starting to see a good spread of trainers with the Reed, Brown and Warwick camps really cracking in. Some more stands for true handicapping would continue to help.

If they go back to this crap of restricting races to 9/10 horse fields to "give every horse a better chance" I will not be a happy camper. It is just utter nonsense. All it makes for is slower lead times as horses find their positions quicker. Less moves as the good horses just go forward straight away as no one is in their way and LESS CHANCES not more as the horses up top sprint home in 55 and change.

Please tell me this is just a race falling away and not a "master stroke" form the powers that be?

Talking about horses not allowed tobe run on their merits

Very long time ago - maybe 80s - working for a Sydney company - they also owned a Melb showroom in Caulfield  - and me and this other bloke - similar age - we went down on the Friday to help move a heap of stock

At the end of the day - the bloke running the Melb depot took us to a local hotel for a few drinks before going to the airport

Very nice pub - we were sitting at a table - and the table next to us - 4-5 blokes well dressed - one of them was the late Kevin Curtain - a pretty astute Caulfield trainer - and the other one i recognised - was the then race caller Bryan Martin - and he was doing most of the talking - and it went along the lines of -  Oh that thing was dead that day - and that other thing was hooked - and all the others at the table - were nodding in agreement - talk about a colourful conversation

My lone visit to the collect queue at Bunbury tonight.....and a rare thing because I rarely touch trifectas and the like.....but was undecided about most things tonight,  so for interest I go Natural Disaster (best horse in the race), from Kinda Black (drawn 1, good win last start) and Touch Of Success (almost certain to lead), boldly invest a couple of bucks and bugger me, first I get the order right for the first time in about 10 years and then fall over when I see the 3 most favoured runners in the race returns $55.60...ridiculous, still in a state of disbelief. Nice drive home after all after being a kiss of death the last few weeks.

Amazing run by the winner. Correct me if im wrong but thats a track record. Untouched and 1st up. Outstanding performance. This is the horse that first up in oz as a 2yo broke the Narrogin TR going 55 and change.

To be fair, he is a pretty serious horse is Mitch.....what a turn of foot to cover the field but we are talking a 24 start,15 win 4yo, $220k horse against a very honest 69 start, 6 win $72k 9 year old.Fairs fair.

How are some of the market moves tonight???

The Padberg stable looks like one to follow at the moment.

Brave punters following up on the horse with the three little ducks besides its name in the trot.

Things are that desperate I even had a bet in the trot. A few bob EW Upandgone a@$8.50 fixed 5 mins from jump! Finally a winner even if it did get all the way out to $18 fixed over the next 5 minutes.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings Gilga but SPd $21 on Ubet and $28 on Betfair. Ridiculous odds for a last start winner in similar company.

When you win and you lose haha. Not to worry I will take any collect. Just doing the replays to put on a quad its last win was so impressive, looked to get the nice run just behind them (didn't happen that way).

Last winner was great odds also, last run was fantastic, 3 time winner in a race with horses who have plenty of convictions. Alas wasn't smart enough to back him but did manage to snare a little collect through the quad, the tide is turning.

No Robinson Crusoe Gil, it's always doubly tough in winter, always has been, always will be but never apoligise, we all just throw up our thoughts and we all take it on ourselves to either pursue or ignore, swings and roundabouts. Only golden rule for me is I never tip one of mine, ever, to anyone.....get a dose of the guilts if I do and they lose, absolutely hate it. If they do win, they think you're cheating, if they don't win, they think you're cheating and if they place, you were only partially cheating!!!! And a lot of the Pie Throwers have never owned one, never paid up for one and never actually make it to the track...ever.

Very good spot on UpandGone...braver than me.
