Afl 2018. Is the game played 99.9% above the shoulders ???
Tex's game from last week to this week was a remarkable turnaround. I can't explain it.
Was his "new found game" a result of being smashed in the media during the week ???
Thank god horses can't read. Or can they ????

Allegedly "hush money" was paid to a female staff member at the Dockers by the Dockers because of sexual harassment or an indiscretion by a senior Docker.
Not sure if I have it completely correct, but something like that.

Just looking at the topsy turvy nature of AFL, Essendon a good case in point.
    Round 1. Underdog - Won.
    Round 2. Favourite - Lost.
    Round 3. Favourite - Lost.
    Round 4. Underdog - Won.
    Round 5. Slight underdog - ???

Realise this sounds silly but the moment gave the Crows a big chance against Sydney in Sydney was after they were demolished at home against the Pies. Beware the wounded, backs to the wall footballer.

Fairly average performance by the Eagles today against the bottom-placed side. Will take the win but were outplayed at the start of every quarter, only ever got on top of Carlton in the "time on" period of the first three quarters. In fact, Carlton did not score after the 20-minute mark in any of the first three quarters, with only Casboult and McKay kicking a goal each in the final two minutes of the game.

    Q1 - First 20 mins (WCE 14-13), time on (WCE 9-0)
    Q2 - First 20 mins (CAR 16-5), time on (WCE 13-0)
    Q3 - First 20 mins (CAR 13-4), time on (WCE 25-0)
    Q4 - First 20 mins (CAR 14-2), time on (CAR 13-7)
GAME - First 20 mins (CAR 56-25), time on (WCE 54-13)

Only the 7th win by WCE (7-18) at the MCG since they won the grand final in 2006.

WCE RECORD AT MCG SINCE 2006 GF
    v RIC - 2 wins, 2 losses
    v COL - 8 losses
    v HAW - 5 losses
    v MEL - 3 wins, 2 losses
    v GEE - 1 loss
    v CAR - 2 wins

Liking Melbourne to bounce back and beat Richmond on Tuesday night then Essendon to beat Collingwood 5.40 looks a good bet.

Sounds better than the $101 TABtouch is offering for Conor McKenna (Selection No. 603615) to win the ANZAC Medal, even though he is suspended until Round 7. L-)

The new match tribunal system (Michael Christian) hasn't changed anything in lessening the confusion over penalties.
It is a lucky dip in terms of what players are going to get these days.
I used to get fired up on tribunal outcomes. NOT ANY MORE.

Richmond's win last night against Melbourne ends a 506-round streak (the 3rd longest ever in AFL/VFL history), dating back to R12 1995, since they were last on top of the ladder at the end of a "home and away" round.

LONGEST STREAKS - NOT BEING ON TOP OF LADDER
    559 rounds (1st R1 1959, 1st R5 1986) - Sth Melb/Sydney
    530 rounds (1st R2 1974, 1st R21 1997) - St Kilda
    506 rounds (1st R12 1995, 1st R5 2018) - Richmond
    503 rounds (1st R7 1958, 1st R5 1983) - Fitzroy
    422 rounds (debut R1 1995, 1st R1 2014) - Fremantle

CURRENT STREAKS - NOT BEING ON TOP OF LADDER
    296 rounds (last time R3 2005) - Melbourne
    253 rounds (last time R2 2007) - Brisbane

Yet last year at this point we were 5-0.
The year Nathan Brown folded his leg in half (early 2000’s) we started 8-0 (fell apart after Browns injury).
So more a function of other teams records than ours......(having multiple unbeaten teams v’s none this year).
  • PAULPAUL    2,665 posts
    Of course.

A bit like in the 2009 season when St Kilda and Geelong were both 13-0 when they played each other in R14. St Kilda were on top from R3 onwards, Geelong always 2nd on percentage from R4 onwards.

Just to let you know, it was 2005 when Brown broke his leg in R10 v Melbourne. Richmond going into that game were 7-2 (3rd), have lost to Geelong in R1 and St Kilda in R5 (both by 10+ goals).
  • TiversTivers    7,720 posts
Did think 8-1 upon reflection, but close yes.
Either way wheels fell off after that.
Both from losing a top player, and no doubt the mental trauma incurred to others.

Gee Richmond are impressive. Barring bad luck "back to back" is a distinct possibility.
Did anyone see Shane Edwards blind 40m lateral kick across half forward knowing a team mate would be there in the 2nd quarter ?
Each player on the same page playing their role and trusting their team mates and structures.
    Outstanding !!!! =D>

Yesterday was the first time in 12 years, that Geelong has lost a game at Kardinia Park after leading at half-time, were 12 points up at H/T, ended up losing by 17 points.

The previous time was against the Eagles, R10 2006, when they led by 39 points at H/T and ended up losing by three points. In the 88 games at Kardinia Park since that game, Geelong have won 77, drawn 1 and only lost ten (four of those were against Sydney).

Looking forward to the big clash at the G today. Wonder how many will show up for the usually dreaded 3.20pm Sunday time slot?
    I'm tipping plenty!

Wish me luck on my same game multi - Pies by 1-39, deGoey to kick 3, deGoey to have 30+ touches. $10 @ 650/1

Couple of bucks on big Brodie Grundy to kick the 1st goal at 30/1.

    GO THE PIES!!
