4 years ago i decided that i wanted to own a share in a racehorse. I had $5k to spend and looked through every syndicator that was going around. I was pretty disappointed initially as all the horses in my price range seemed to come from mares that had done nothing on the track. After a month or 2 of searching i finally found what i was looking for a testa rossa colt out of a flying spur mare that had won 6 times. I enquired with Elite Thoroughbreds over east, received the paperwork and signed the contract. Later that week a horse that i had my eye on a Snitzel in WA was purchased by a syndicator i had done some research on. At the last minute i decided that if i was going to own a horse i better get one in WA as most of the fun of ownership would be to meet other racing enthusiast i could have a beer with at the track. I threw the other contract in the bin and signed up with the WA horse.

The horse i was originally going to purchase just won it's 7th race on the weekend and nearly $1.2 million in prizemoney it's name is Testashadow. I just wanted to here if anyone else had any similar stories of coming close to owning a top liner/ money spinner but for some reason didn't go through with it.

Dan Pearce told me he was looking at a horse that was a really nice type, however the mum had 6 to the track but unfortunately had done nothing so he thought it would be too hard to syndicate the horse back here in WA. That horse turned out to be Unencumbered.

The Snitzel tries but he has his issues. He's a decent provincial horse when we can get him to the track.

On the positive i have met some fantastic people through owning him.

What's the difference Falc . Even if it went for $5.00 the bloke who bid four is still the unDerbidder

Got offered a share in what turned out to be Fortune Streak when I was a teenager. It won a couple of listed and other races and later produced Brava Fortune who won the Karrakatta and Sires double :(

Was it that sale being referred to, or when he originally sold as a yearling ?

One of my colleagues from a past job passed up a stake in Bel Esprit as his brother didn't like him and ended up with a share in a very pretty but useless filly. I'd be reminding him at every opportunity.
