Anyone know when the Perth Cup weights get released? If they have already been released, can someone put them on here?

So what happens when Perfect reflection comes out? All go to top weight or a complete re do?

I think if PR comes out before final acceptances it will be a redo.

This would have to be the worst handicap race in Australia,especially for a group 2 race,only 3 weights.59kg,56kg and the rest on 54kg.meaning 14 of our current senior jockeys have to make 54 kg.
They should change the distance back to 3200m and make it what it's supposed to be our PREMIUM STAYING RACE. Then that would separate the wheat from the chaff and get rid of the horses that think that they can be competitive over 2400m.

They should drop the minimum weight for all handicap Group races to 51kg.

Same as Melbourne cup and other proper group handicaps.

The funny thing is they put that other 3200 metre race on at Ascot and it's always great to watch. Gets people talking , it's different , it's been a success.

with the exception of PR ( and at a push I suppose you could make a case for Itsahym) its just a field full of Saturday class stayers

What weight was Delicacy last year? And wasnt that the race that cooked her? Cant see it happening again, certainly will be scratched

They should follow up the Perth Cup with an open class 3200m race in the middle of January worth 100-150k which would no doubt be a great race in its own right.

My first reaction to Perfect Reflection running is that she will. Bob simply doesn't pull out of $500k races because of weight.

If she was to come out, all those rated 90 and above would be re-handicapped an additional 2kg's with the topweight becoming 58kg's.

This actually would aid Bob's other two runners as they are rated below 90 and would get further weight relief remaining on 54kg's.

But I doubt he will pull out Perfect Reflection. Of his three runners, she is in the best position to win at the moment, but her best will be unlikely to overcome this impost especially as she is unknown at this distance.

i think it's **** and not needed, but i would wait and see HOW they implement it.
they've probably been listening to my friend dom, who from memory, thinks that is the go, just not the idiotic way it's done in wa.

but most of all.....i don't actually give a fig what they do these days, i have moved on to greener pastures.
i was never going to be one of those guys that was addicted to racing until the end.

Kia Ora Koutou is the best geniune stayer in the field IMO. If it's run anything near a true staying test I think it just wins . I would love to see this horse down the Flemington straight over a distance.

If this race were 3200m I would declare it right here right now.

Another gem of a ride would help too

@thefalcon here's a bit of a test for the memory but do you remember a horse you tipped (with confidence) earlier this year that won, it's in the field and around the $15 mark at the moment, do you give it any chance...

He may yet be scratched but Dark Musket engaged again tomorrow, then Perth Cup Saturday week to make it 4 runs in 21 days...?? He strikes me as a tough horse but that schedule makes one wonder.

if he's scratched tomorrow (which he should) then his perth cup start would only be his 5th in a matter of 6-7 weeks... don't see what the fuss is about haha plus I'm pretty sure that the trainer knows a thing or two about winning a Perth Cup ;)
