R1. Tabtouch On Facebook Handicap - Scott Embry

Not the most enthralling start to opening day of The Masters with the Group 1 Railway Stakes feature worth $1 million attracting a stellar line-up of WA's best taking on a couple of Eastern States and an overseas raider. The stayers grind away over 2200m to start the day and it is a pretty similar line up to those who locked horns in battle a fortnight ago with The Forgotten One winning. Going with Already Famous who should take up a position on speed and be near the 'fast lane' expected against the fence on the unraced 3m pad. The Forgotten One will probably settle at the rear and work through his gears from the 800m. Not a big fan of barrier 1 for Our Mate Al but he is undefeated with Jarrad Noske in the saddle.

1. ALREADY FAMOUS - 2. THE FORGOTTEN ONE - 6. OUR MATE AL

R2. Amelia Park Handicap - Scott Embry

Prime Witness resumes first-up off the back of a very soft barrier trial where she lead the field up and was eased across the line in third position. She was not sporting blinkers in that trial and wears them on race day, from barrier 6 with only 54kg on her back I expect a big showing from her. Roger the Roman has been knocking on the door for quite a while now without notching a deserved win but with Damien Oliver going on he gets his chance. Tommy Who was an incredible drfiter first-up last preparation at Northam from $1.50 out to $2.90 but still got the job done. Drawn awefully and potentially a little outclassed but write off W.Pike at your own peril. Of the rest Wicked Hunter is drawn perfectly to improve second-up at odds.

    9. PRIME WITNESS - 2. ROGER THE ROMAN - 6. TOMMY WHO

    SUGGESTED BET - 9. PRIME WITNESS $50 x $50

R3. Presets Performing Perth Cup - Dec 31 Handicap - Scott Embry

The Ascot grass could be set on fire along the un-raced 3m pad in race 3 with speed horses Travinator, Lenience, Furious Dame, Delicate Miss, Chinetti and Calabria Joe sure to ensure the pace is on from the get-go. One that I think can slot in just behind the anticipated frentic tempo is Ascot specialist Flytego. Damien Lane riding for David Harrison I think we can get a very good run for our money on Flytego over the short course Dash for Cash. Travinator is a grand old galloper who was far from disgraced in the Group 3 Prince of Wales behind Rock Magic and Vega Magic, a strong form reference. Viking Forrest was bitterly disappointing last start but given a soft run off the speed should charge home. The top end speed horses like Furious Dame and Chinetti may well cut at eachother and set this race up for a swooping type like Flytego.

    4. FLYTEGO - 1. TRAVINATOR - 13. VIKING FORREST

    SUGGESTED BET - 4. FLYTEGO $50 x $50

R4. Mumm Champagne Handicap - Scott Embry

WA's best hoop in W.Pike jumps back into the saddle of Cronkite and gets the nod in race 4. He was fresh off 49 days last start and found the line well enough to suggest that with our best jockey back in the saddle he would go mighty close to winning. Will be very interesting to see how Willy Pike fares against some of the East's best and world's best when you include the likes of Douglas Whyte into the scenario but hopefully in race 4 Pike can show them how it's done. Over 1500m from barrier 2 I think that the Steve Wolfe trained Chasing Chaos is one to keep in the back of your mind when placing exotic best, there was money around for him last start and he didn't enjoy the best of luck in running. Heavy Set is a 9 year old who is very tested at 1500m but he went to the line untouched last start, never saw daylight. Could be a blowout at odds.

    7. CRONKITE - 1. CHASING CHAOS - 15. HEAVY SET

    SUGGESTED BET - 7. CRONKITE $50 x $50

    R5. Tabtouch-Placid Ark Stakes - Scott Embry

This race on paper looks Caipirinha's for the taking. Off a 7 day back up from the Champion Fillies and dropping back to what most people think is a much more suitable trip for her I think they will struggle to catch the Nicconi filly. Drawn perfectly to find the front and roll from the 600m and see whether any of these 3 year olds are good enough to make an impact. Where's Wally has a fair bit of X-Factor about him and is definitely suited over a trip more like 1400m but he is a serious racehorse in the making. Expect him to settle midfield and rattle home. Chaser was more than adequate at his WA debut for team Peters after a run at Bendigo for the Darren Weir stable. That race on Cup day was run and won from the front and he was the only horse making any significant ground late. Big respect for Paris Texas and Douglas Whyte, do not leave her out of exotics.

    2. CAIPIRINHA - 1. WHERE'S WALLY - 6. CHASER

    SUGGESTED BET - 2. CAIPIRINHA $100

R6. Carbine Club Of W.A. Stakes - Scott Embry

If Showy Chloe has finally made her way out of traffic from last Saturday's Peters Stakes then I think she can give this a very good crack at an eachway quote. Expecting every man and their dog to be aboard the Chocolate Holic train, especially with Damien Oliver on his back, and while he is a deserving favourite and the obvious danger I just think that Showy Chloe will again sneak under the radar and be over the odds. Jarrad Noske on is another positive riding engagement and she should settle perfectly midfield. Chocolate Holic was no where to be seen last start in the Ascot Gold Cup and as a result finds himself in the Carbine Club over 1400m rather than the Group 1 Railway Stakes over a mile. This race looks right up his alley and could easily make it 7 wins from 10 starts. Belmont Guineas winner and Railway second emergency Great Shot looks as though he will find the front with Vegabus drawn outside him and from there the two of them control the tempo of the race.

    6. SHOWY CHLOE - 3. CHOCOLATE HOLIC - 5. GREAT SHOT

R7. Sky Racing WA Guineas - Scott Embry

The 2016 WA Guineas brings together an awesome line up of the states very best 3 year olds. There is some intrigue around the Champion Fillies pairing Ellicazoom and I Am Boudica on one weeks back up as well as the inclusion of boom WA 2 year old in Whispering Brook who is back fresh off a Melbourne carnival culminating in the Myer Classic where she lead the field and faded noticably. If all is well with her and she can cross from barrier 14 to take up a prominent postion then she will be hard to catch. I've settled on Lusaha who I thought was very game in defeat last start in the Fairetha. With the services of Craig Williams he looks arguably the best hope from the inform Morton yard. Hugh Bowman teams up with Lindsay Smith and the raw talent Humanity. He is drawn perfectly and looks a horse who will relish the trip. With Winx's best mate Bowman in the saddle you can be guaranteed a 10/10 ride and he will be on pace and there for a very long way. Saul's Special's winning chances were dealt a bitter blow at the barrier draw while Ellicazoom is a minor question mark at a mile her effort in defeat after copping a well documented Pontiff hip and shoulder was undeniably excellent.

    6. LUSAHA - 10. HUMANITY - 14. WHISPERING BROOK

R8. James Boag\'s Premium Railway Stakes - Scott Embry

Tipping that the 2016 Group 1 Railway Stakes will remain in Western Australia with my top 4 selections all being local commodities. Heart Starter, Scales of Justice, Perfect Refleciton and Tradesman. It looks on paper that last years winner in Good Project will find the front for Hugh Bowman with Douglas Whyte and Scales of Justice sitting outside him or potentially rolling to the front if Bowman elects to take a sit. Either way from barrier 1 Heart Starter should get all the favours and while I was far from sold on his ability to compete at Group level earlier this campaign he just keeps going from strength to strength. His run in the RJ Peters when stopped in his tracks carrying 59kg before picking himself up and going across the line under a hold was enormous and with only a fly weight on his back I think $15 eachway is a massive price. Scales of Justice should hit the front at the top of the home straight and with a predicted 'fast lane' closer to the rail he will get his chance at Group 1 glory. Perfect Reflection is WA's glamour girl and is without doubt Bob's best hope. Tradesman meets her significantly better at the weights from the Lee Steere, however, she was relatively untested by Pike and won running away from them. I would argue that Tradesman was taking ground off Delicacy rather than making any head way towards reeling in Perfect Reflection. Makintosh will do it tough from the gate and is probably suited over further while Rageese's win on Oaks day was solid his prior form was only fair.

    11. HEART STARTER - 14. SCALES OF JUSTICE - 6. PERFECT REFLECTION

    SUGGESTED BET - 11. HEART STARTER $50 x $50

R9. Crown Perth-jungle Mist Classic - Scott Embry

Let It Slip was scratched last Saturday from an encounter with State Solicitor to be saved for this race. Daniel Pearce is an astute judge of form and I am quietly confident he has pulled the right reign here and think that Let It Slip will be very hard to beat in the Listed Jungle Dawn Classic. From an inside gate Noske should have her positioned up perfectly ready to strike and as long as he can get the mare into open running around the home corner she is more than capable of zapping them late. Silverstream has probably been fighting out of her weight division this campaign, especially her last two starts in Group races alongside talented types like Rock Magic, Vega Magic and company. This is much more to her preference and if they're making ground on the day then we can expect her to flash home down the middle. Has an electric turn of foot when right and we're yet to really see it this preparation but this is arguably the most winnable race she has contested so far. Jestajingle has been thrown into the deep end coming out of an 8 horse midweek 1000m into Listed Company and Fred Kersley risks copping the wrath of the Handicapper yet again as he did with Lite'N In My Veins but with the opportunity of Black Type the temptation obviously outweights the potential ratings points. Her win was emphatic albeit against a bunch of midweek battlers, however, the way in which she won suggested that she could be competitive at 55kg with the right kind of economical run. Not discounting the Darren McAulley special "W.Pike in the last" with Cosmic Storm suited over further but showing in a recent barrier trial she is sharp enough to figure.

    1. LET IT SLIP - 6. SILVERSTREAM - 15. JESTAJINGLE

Dont know what to make of Chocolate Holic,it's run last week was poor, even with the slow tempo in the race.Looked to be really struggling inside the last 150m.
Heard after the race it's going for a spell ? Then after looking at the Stewards report from Wednesday's meeting, it also states that it's going for a spell, then Lo and behold it in again on Saturday.WTF and no Pike to boot.
Would be a nice lay on the weekend

Or it gets scratched and that's why Pike isn't on.  Run looked poor in the Peters, but back to the 1400m, could be the sharpen up it needs, wouldn't be writing him off though!

The Forgotten One looks like it relishing the staying trips

I think Coming Back can certainly take the next step and win the carbine club

Ellicazoom should just win, quinella Get Over It

Litn in my veins at $21 thanks to PUNTA

Jestajingle in a canter, that was one of the easiest wins you'll ever see last start

    Good luck

Expect it to go better than last start - do we presume the Punta boys think an interstater will win, based on the nice prices available on WA runners?

I have only one interstater with a real live chance!

One persons opinion. Genuine speed here for her to run into the race beautifully . Sweet Ora & Wheres Wally to get Caiparinha . A huge blow out chance could be Slick Mover.
