Rumours about again at The Red Hots

Harness & Greyhounds
Have a few close mates in the Harness game in NSW, both have told me that there is talk about a positive yet to come out concerning a runner from the this years Miracle Mile. They seem too believe there is a WA connection, if so why would it take this long and nothing publicly about it, then again it is just a strong rumour

could believe anything about the trots, Good to see LBH is allowed back as a trotgoer, absolute disgrace that he isn't allowed to be licensed. Lets keep the best out of the game

It looks like snakadaktal might have been onto something.

Go and check out the lead story about Clint hall and my hard copy at harnessbred.com

It is a very interesting read to say the least. Would love to hear the opinion of our regulars on here.

    Just read it Offthebit.

Some very interesting questions posed. Answers that will never be answered.

Some of these trainers would beat a murder charge caught on CCTV, If the stewards were the judge

Very perplexing ...MHC has recorded a positive swab to synephrine, a banned substance, the horse has been disqualified from the Miracle Mile.....the old "contaminated Lucerne Hay" line has been utilised.....and Hey Presto, zero penalty ....quite unbelievable really.

If I record a elevated BAC after being pulled over by the cops, can I claim contaminated orange juice or coca cola? On this logic, my car gets disqualified but I don't get fined or lose my license.

So the leading stable from WA takes a horse over to Sydney for the miracle mile........gets a positive swab.........then gets disqualified.

To me, this is big news. The question is, why have we heard nothing about it?

Hypothetical question. What would the stewards have done with G hall snr/Clint hall if the horse had of won the race?

more to the point...where are our journalists?
  • JayJayJayJay    8,623 posts
Well, wherever and whoever they are, they don't work for the West Australian or The Sunday Times. John McGrath was in Parliament last I heard and Ernie is too busy trying to find his next value bet at $1.04. Gino De Mori made a rapid exit stage right and Arthur 'Scoop" Thornton is reporting upstairs. Don't think there are any others who could apply the sobriquet of "Journalist" after their name without eliciting tremendous jocularity in the fraternity. Ability to "cut" and "paste" is a KPI these days.

Whatever happened to Gino de Mori - redundacy ?

Gino was dismissed from the West after he wrote an article  "talking up the chances" (Trainer can't see him being beaten) of a horse he part owned that was contesting a claimer, thus in the eyes of some, enhancing its prospects of being claimed and putting some shekels in his pocket. It all happened pretty rapidly...after 40 plus years with the West, he got the "don't come Monday" at 10.00am  the Monday after the race. Ironically, the horse won as tipped by Gino and it wasn't claimed. It was all covered in a Media Watch program and mushroomed from there. Horse was Vintage Concerto trained by Murray Hansen....quite a few years ago. Gino now sells Real Estate I believe.

Time to give GP a wide berth again. Some strange results on the back of last Friday. Are they taking turns? Fair dinkum :-@

The MHC deal is the work of NSW Harness, nothing to do with GP but yes, the fast class race each Friday Night has been nicknamed "The Head of The River" .....the result last Friday, not with standing that Our Jimmy Johnstone is a pretty fair horse, was astounding with none of the very favoured Hall runners managing to place....including the current pre post favourite for the Inters.

    Stewards Report:
BEAUDIENE BOAZ NZ (Gary Hall Jnr) – Gary Hall Jnr) – Underwent a
veterinary examination after the event. Nothing was found to be amiss.
Stewards questioned driver Gary Hall Jnr in regards to the performance
of the horse. Mr Hall Jnr put forward that he felt that BEAUDIENE BOAZ
NZ raced slightly under par but felt the reason being was it was going
from a 1700 metre journey to a 2500 metre journey and was second up
after a spell. Stewards noted the comments of Mr Hall Jnr.

Raced slightly under par???? went like a busted bum.

JJ for someone who has such a plethora of knowledge in relation to participants of harness racing, which obviously dates back many years, I find it most bizarre that your analysis of a performance can be so far wrong.
In BB race Friday they rated 1.55.8.

Now let me explain to you why his run was actually nothing less or nothing more that probably on par.

The track record for the distance (2536) sits at 1.54.7. Which just so happens to be held by Quinny in the 2013 inters heat where M white got 6 weeks for attacking one of bonds horses for about 650 meters. Quinny went on to win by about 40! Now BB fastest ever mile rate when winning over 2536 is 1.55.7 in the nugget. A race he eventually led. So given he came from the rear of the field, 3 wide from the 1200 in a race run as fast as he's ever been I'd say his run was on par to say the least. That's not even taking into account that we are in winter and in the nugget he would have been 100% race fit, oppose to being second up heading toward a inters campaign...

Times have changed dramatically since they changed the track.....dramatically. So any analysis based on mile rates pre the re-cambering is very problematic.
  • Mick511Mick511    64 posts
Dramatically changed you say... Mind telling me how many track records have been broken since the re-cambering? Surely nearly all of them must have been broken by now If the times have Dramatically changed? Unless your suggesting it has slowed the track down....

On any measure, times have improved across all classes since the track upgrade. And after just re watching the replay, BB was never traveling in the run....but we all have views that differ....I think he was very ordinary, you don't.....hardly qualifies for bizarre.
  • Mick511Mick511    64 posts
Well I find it extremely bizarre that you have an opinion on a performance, that being very ordinary, when there is zero evidence to suggest the horse can go better/faster with that run.

Then to top it off you try support your opinion with another statement that once again is misguided and clearly not factual. Hence why you shy away from the question. So I'll ask again. How many records have been broken since the dramatic change...?
You can answer with I don't know or even I don't care. Or maybe you could break turf talk tradition and just admit you posted without having a reasonable understanding of the facts...

Thanks JJ, wow never knew that. Is he still involved with harness Racing in any form ?

Found Gino good to listen to on the radio and television as well as in print. A tricky one the above...penalty was ultra severe but should have known better I guess.

He does start the paragraph saying that the horse may have seen better days, not exactly trying to hide anything there!

Think it was a case of bad timing too because there was a fair bit of controversy at that stage in the media Australia wide with 'cash for comments' scandals going on left right and centre.

You wonder why there are rumours? Look at race 7 from Stawell? The fav sits at the back after drawing on the 2nd row but the driver makes sure it's off the pegs early. Doesn't go for it at all despite going two laps then rides for luck which comes when the 2nd fav goes amiss. Gets beaten narrowly when darts up along the pegs. Gets going early and it wins. Easily ~X(

How are you going to win sitting back that far with qtrs of 32.3, 32.2, 31.6 & 30.9?

Its an interesting term - The Red Hots

When i used to bet in Sydney- ( being a harness racing fan ) i used to bet at a few late night TABs - there was a few of them ( with 10 oclock closing ) - Silver St Randwick was one of them

There would only be 4-5 punters their - all the gallops punters had **** off - there were losing  tickets scattered every where

An elderly lady used to come in their on a Saturday Night - god she must have been about  80 - and she allways had 2 white poodle dogs with her . One night - she was looking at the Dog and Trots form pinned up on the wall - like we all were - and she said a couple of times - Im going to break the Golden rule tonight - im going to break the Golden Rule - and i said to her - whats that luv - and she said - Im going to have a bet on the Red Hots .!!
