When is too many - too much

West Australian Racing
At the Outside provincial tracks, you have two Big stables one at Kalgoorlie, One at Albany, Fernie & Wolfe, both stables get results at their local tracks from large starter numbers, and most times have at least 2 runners per race, sometimes upto 4.

So my question is when you are an owner of a horse/horses in those types of stable and just using these two as examples, does it come a time when you are not happy racing against stablemates all the time not getting the Stable No1 rider etc etc, or do you go with flow hope you horse can beat what they are up against, even if a stablemate may knock you off numerous times, and follow the stable leads.

yes been in that situation...left the horse there, but wasn't comfortable with being the whipping boy for the other horses...especially as the trainer owned the other one!!!!!

hang on, look at the eastern states where, eg. weir and waller have up to 4 & 5 horses in the same races, probably all with different owners.

I know we are talking about WA but this is an example.

parnham can have 2 or 3 in the same race, miller can have a few.

    No issue for me.

If you`re not getting the no1 stable jockey it probably means you`re not good enough anyway.

If the option is for your horse to go to another trainer in the same area, it won`t make any difference to your results because you would still be racing the same horses.

Very good point FM ... That why I asked the question, just wondering and put it out there.

If this was the case and they were honest and upfront to let you know not to back your horse that particular day, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

See where you are coming from and completely understand your concerns...
We have and have had many horses with Wolfie and whilst it can be disheartening to ever see a top jock get off to ride another horse in the race there can be plenty of reasons, the main being that they are trying to get weight relief hence one of their apprentices put onboard.
I have no problem with this as his apprentices always give us 110% and I have seen Taylor Stone best Shooter plenty of times and score plenty of great wins for us too.
The other reason can be horses drawing badly and one drawing perfectly, as stable number 1 they will probably take the better barrier which is fair enough and I can cop that fair enough.
I'm sure there will be plenty of arguments for and against but my 2 cents on the matter are that I have not had any issues with it.

Form students are better judges than jockeys. They do the form subjectively.

    My thoughts exactly!
If you can be tipped into the winner albeit not yours so you can benefit somewhat from the race then you shouldn't be complaining

I believe technically under the rules of racing and from the email that was sent out late last year from RWWA that to back another horse in the race when you have a runner is somehow illegal... Good luck policing that one...
I could be wrong but I am fairly certain they sent out a notice to registered owners.

    yeah that's interesting P_B

I can see how they may look at it in a negative way but in all seriousness not every horse in every race can win. Maybe 2 or 3 in any given race have a chance. If a stable mate is a legit chance I would like to know about it.
