Gee, Tricky Styx drawn to win....something extra ordinary would have to happen for her to get beaten from gate 2. Liberty Belle Midfrew returns from gate 1, Sensational Gabby, who looked like she needed a paddock, an interesting runner and Mohegan Sun finally gets a barrier. Lots of the fancies have drawn 1 and 2 across the program ....Elegant Christian scratched?? Probably not a great betting night but quite a few interesting runners.

Unfortunately when your main strength is your high speed and you are the hunted not the hunter you have eleven other drivers rating there horses to nullify your sit sprint capacity. I think you guys are forgetting how good Justin's two fillies are and how well both the boys drove to beat Tricky Styx.
To say Aiden's drive lacked initiative really shows how simple minded you guys can be. I'm a long time reader, few time commentor but Jay Jay some of your comments show why you have very little insight into training and driving of the modern era.
To make a statement calling for Aiden's head so to speak is extremely distasteful #granstanddrivers.
He had to make a move then or he couldn't win.
Last 800, 56.1 and he give them 12 to 15mts and was 3 wide.
Remember is was a $150,000 race,
There is no winning for Aiden you've got to also remember it was 2536m and as good as she went in the derby it was off a soft trip which they virtually walked and run a half. Considering the hand Aiden was dealt last night she finished as close as she was going to.

I feel sorry for you that you cannot see scenarios in colour form other then black and white.
P.s, well done to connections of first and second and most importantly Justin Prentice, one of the genuine nice guys of the sport!

She was odds on on her ability more then anything, taking into account her racing pattern she was probably under the odds. I'm sure the clever punters who could see how the race would unfold were prepared to risk her and hopefully for there sake they found the winner.

@The Dark Horse, could not believe how many times they tried to "take advantage" of a good draw early in Quinnie career only to effectively end his chances. Got better at it late in his career but early on it didn't mater how slow they were going you wanted him sat up.
It is very dangerous in racing, particularly harness racing to start putting it out there that your horse can only be driven one way in a race. Clearly it gives others a tactical advantage as they know you wont come around and put pressure on and if they come around and pressure you that you will relent.
You can also convince yourself sometimes that something is there when it really isnt. There is no doubt Tricky Styx has electric late speed. To me though there isn't enough evidence to say that she can't be put into a race and still finish off. I can only see one run where she was asked to make two moves in a race and flopped and that was at her 12th start at the end of her 2yr old seadon where she was entitled to be tired. To my eye it wasn't like she pulled or anything in that run.
She has led and won two races and settled head on chest no worries. She has run the arm but been crossed by Straighttothehilton. Again no worries take the sit, barge out late and win as you like.
Last week the filly that eventually won the Oaks was a barnstorming run late, they didn't take that to mean she had to be driven cold, just that she was a live chance to take out the oaks, jnr gave her every chance and she did the rest. Maybe like her Tricky Styx has a really good sprint on her not just because she's a good sit sprinter but because she's a bloody good horse!!
I don't know exactly if she can make two runs or she cant but if she were mine i'd be going back and looking hard at all if her replays before i pigeon holed her into being a one dimmensional race horse, hate it when horses don't maximise their earnings to their ability.
Roll the dice, $150,000 race,
31.9 coming to the bell please, that is walking.
Wont get too many more chances to run for this amount of money against her age group and sex.
