RWWA stewards have today suspended trainer Sharon Taylor’s licence to train after urine samples taken from Ignition from 4 March have revealed an excessive level of cobalt – the first case of cobalt being detected in the WA thoroughbred industry.

Really interesting. I find it hard to believe that March 4th is the first time a horse has been treated with cobalt in WA. My gut feeling is that if they back tested there would be an avalanche of cobalt positives. Just my opinion though....

Agree Bull...and I also feel it will be the first....and a long way from the last. But can honestly say I am a bit surprised that it is her.

It's the timing that surprises me more. Surely no one could be stupid enough to intentionally treat a horse with cobalt 3 weeks ago with everything going down the way it is?

If the (A) and (B) sample say over the limit then she has a case to defend. Good on them for being pro active and suspending her until the case is heard. If the positive was to Elephant Juice should she still be allowed to train until the hearing??. Over is over no matter what the drug is. For mine I think if they back tested, there would/will be more to come.

Just use the best and proven defence in WA...."The foreman done it".

    It's like this...

Brad..."Hi Terry, Brad here from WA".

    Terry..."Where?".

Brad... "WA, other side of aussie mate".

Terry... "There's another side?, like out of Victoria"?.

    Brad... " Umm yeah".

    Terry..."Are you a kiwi?"

Brad... "Nah we take race's off them mate. Anyway colbalt we have one, suspended the trainer".

Terry.. "You what, for what, Hell we are just looking into that. OMG your making me look like an idiot".

Brad.. "Well Bro here if both A and B are over then there is a case, no matter who you are".

Terry.. " You should be a head stipe, where is WA again?".

    :-* :-*

If there wasn't a positive there wouldn't be a Charge. Hers to defend. Lamb or not, the horse was over the 200 limit.

Is immediate suspension going to be applied to every positive now (before hearing) or just this one?

Swab said over, so she has a case to defend. 200 is the limit here, good thing she ain't in Hong Kong.

Just a question, do stewards have the blood results from horses that all of a sudden had a heart attack race day?.

So if Essy wins the KK with a level above 200 that's ok?.

gee there are a few very vocal anti-cheating supporters in the ownership......not sure the trainer would be feeling too good about that.

simple answer - NO.. it's not okay for anyone to cheat an owner out of prize-money
