:-?? Wizard. The comp is different to others - the idea is to throw darts and hit a roughie  If a roughie gets up and you fluked picking it 99% of the time you will win your race

I understand that but have a look at the Premiership ladder and tell me how that works.

    149th Wizard   20:0-4-2     3.90   $231.95
    $14
Can tell you what I do know

    149th overall
    Your Name :)
    Entered 20 times - Zero x 1sts - 4 x 2nds - 2 x 3rds
RTG 3.90 - absolutely no idea how this is calculated
$231.95 - Total you have won from your $1 EW on each horse each week
    $14 - Total Prize money won. 4 x $3 for running 2nd plus 2x $1 for running 3rd = $14

That's not the point. I am a businessman and like to understand everything and not just fob it off by saying it's the same for everyone.

OK. So the comp is for the jagers then. One could get 100% in 1st's 2nd's and 3rd's but it won't count unless they are outsiders.

Many years ago I was diagnosed cancer and given 1 year to live. I couldn't drink beer and didn't like straight alcohol so couldn't drink that. A Scott told me to try Whisky and milk. I did for about a year and can still tell the story 46 years later - It's a good milkshake mate.

I don't mind a dash of jamesons in my coffee in cold weather I must admit. Straight with a little dash of water is also good.
That's good to hear wiz, I'm guessing you would put the occasional wager on Milken Whiskey when it runs around too? :D

Wizard, what part are you asking about? The rating?
  • ChrisChris    5,736 posts
    You asked for it...

The rating system awards consistency over duration. It's based on your percentage of wins to starts, seconds to starts and thirds to starts - with wins obviously counting for more ratings points, and seconds counting more than thirds.

Once that's calculated then it multiplies your combined strikerate by (1+your number of wins) and multiplies by 30 to give a 1-100 base.

Simply put if you jag a couple of early wins, it won't throw you straight to the top of the ladder, however if you're like H-BOMBER and perform consistently over numerous starts with a high portion of wins then you're the top dog.

If you take a runner like @Seagull you'll note that he's had a fair share of placings but rocket up the ladder if he could break that maiden. Just like in racing, wins are what count for major ratings points.

I give up bloke. To complicated for me. I'll go for the roughies from now on as n good getting winners and 2nds and 3rds if they are not roughies.

that is the short coming of the comp...You can have 2 or 3 wins, a couple of places and not have a collect at the end of the day cos someone got one roughie in......however that is how it is...
I now put at least one roughie in my tipping comp every week....just haven't got the right one yet.

good to see you worked it out Wiz, and are going to adjust your tips to suit....

I can't understand the problem Wiz if we r at the track and you back 5 winners all favs and collect $1000 and I back only one winner and I collect $1500 who is the happier of the 2 ? It's all about winnings at the end of the day I couldn't give a **** if u backed 5 winners for the day as long as I end up in front with my 1 winner B-)

I do very well betting but this competition is a joke set up to make Punta look good by saying they will give betting money away but one would have to waste to much time and put in to much effort to win a lousy $20 or so. So they way to do it is to go for the outsiders and if they lose it don't matter but if they win maybe one can pick up more that the $20.
It's no big deal. It's just that as a businessman I am a stickler for knowing what's going on and how do we win.

I always bet small on roughy's so it's pretty much my weekend betting haha. Some weekends when I've won my PTT group I've had a return of say $18 from a $16 investment. Not that impressive haha

Apologies for giving away our money for nothing. The concept of ticking 8 boxes a week is beyond you?

I don't really see what the problem is? If you finish above $16 in PTT you would make a profit with same selection/s elsewhere. I enjoy it every weekend, thanks @Chris and @Diva for putting it together.

Yes it's good fun it's amazing tho if you look at the starts an those who are in front to those losing money it's easy to see how so many lose few win

I think over 10 15 starts you cab see who has a clue who doesn't poor old rio hasn't even broke his maiden
  • RIORIO    14,902 posts
a REALLY  big if, but if i did bet my tips e/w as selected, my average return for my $16/week would be 14.56, whereas PT's would be 12.98. I'm pretty happy with my punting.....i love playing with stats.....you can make them say anything!!!!!!

Yeah but I greeted the judge 3 times bossy went off for the crowd I got trophys made 3 speeches got 3 photos on the wall got my photo in the paper got honey carrots an with westpseed bonuses my return was higher lol

I wish I did only lose 3.02 on ave a week what's weird is I'm top 45 an lose money in the comp what does that say on stats @RIo about the other 120 PTT members

    Winning isn't everything Rio

    It's the only thing

Hang in there sure you will break your maiden status soon tho your owners must be getting sick of the feed bill lol

There's always collie or Kulin Rio I'm been set for the diggers cup this week look out
  • RIORIO    14,902 posts
I have actually broken the maiden status, but we aren't the type of site that allows the truth to get in the way of a good story...

Both Pingrup and Moora have been tested. I'm not surprised that no-one knows about that as failure at those courses is generally not something that anyone trumpets about!!!!

The owners are taking the same view as the owners of KKK a few years ago and realise that the more times it runs the better chance of winning it has...

And your right...this mule isn't running around for the glory of winning, its all about the fun had being involved...Unless of course it starts winning!!!!! haha
