R1. Amelia Park Burgers Handicap - Scott Embry
Wanderlust hit the line strongly first up behind August Knight and put his name forward as a potential winner second up over 1200m, however, Wake has decided to keep him to the sprint journey. There looks to be a lot of pace in a wide open affair and Whiting should have him cutting them down late, should be in the finish. Hey Bro has trialled very well in preparation for this first up assignment behind the talented duo of Travinator and Platinum Rocker. Carries 59kg for the first time in his life and is fairly short in the market considering the depth of this field. Deceitful Road will fire straight to the front from barrier 1 and give them all something to chase, her effort behind subsequent Saturday winner in Fushia Bandana was super. August Knight is again well suited by the anticipated top end speed as will Max Almighty who may just find this a few hundred metres too short. Great 3 year old dash to kick off the day.
4. WANDERLUST - 2. HEY BRO - 9. DECEITFUL ROAD
SUGGESTED BET - 4. WANDERLUST $20 x $20

Other than Bonne Femme who looks as though she would appreciate dropping back to maiden company, every single runner has legitimate winning claims. I'm not game enough to have a bet in this race where I wouldn't be surprised if they jumped at $6 for Woken, Young Knight, Mireille, Ain't Bad, Merrick's Choice and Temporise with Friarfighter, Already Famous and Mr Balfire at just beyond 10s. Truely anything could win so for the sake of selections I've settled on Mireille who is a query at the distance but seldom runs a bad race finishing outside the money for the first time at Ascot last start. Friarfighter has finally put it together with the addition of blinkers. Won at $1.30 on debut as a 2 year old and it took him 9 starts to win another, however, has two on the bounce and will give a bold showing here. Young Knight has the form on the board after running a game second to Testamezzo in the Ranconteur but Pike jumping off is the obvious concern. Could easily make a case for every runner but really I don't want to write that much and you don't want to read that much so we'll leave it there for race 2.
4. MIREILLE - 2. FRIARFIGHTER - 3. YOUNG KNIGHT
No fixed odds markets available for 2 year olds on Thursday nights when I write this preview so I'm very much in the dark as to an expected price however, I anticipate that Molto Allegro will be extremely short after destroying them last start and being scratched from the Karrakatta. I think he will be hard to beat but I've left him out of my selections predicting a very skinny quote. Universal King I'm prepared to give one more chance too, his first up run was worth forgetting after he returned with Cardiac Arrhythmia and has since trialled solidly, blinkers go on and I think he can give it a shake. Went round last start at $5.50 and finished over 7 lengths from Molto Allegro so hopefully we'll be aboard at an eachway price. Our Memory Girl is likely to fire forwards and wrestle Molto Allegro for the lead, her form since filling my pockets at $41 in midweek company has been average but against better opposition, she'll improve. Major Factor was unlucky on debut caught behind a wall of horses and blocked for most of the straight. Looked to have more to offer and with the addition of blinkers can finish in the money.
5. UNIVERSAL KING - 4. OUR MEMORY GIRL - 2. MAJOR FACTOR
SUGGESTED BET - 5. UNIVERSAL KING $15 x $25
Thunderluv'n has been in good form this preparation without cracking it for a win but Saturday might be his day. Sneaks under the radar to an extent after a luckless yet disappointing performance in the Batavia Sprint beaten 2.5 lengths. Carrying only 54kg he can surprise a few of these settling behind the speed and pouncing late. His efforts behind Thateldo and Fiddler's Elbow early this preparation were great and at around $15 he looks to be the value runner of the field. War Prince carries a mere 51kg and will fly out in front with Inok, who carries 52kg likely sitting to his outside. They'll go hard and fast out in front and certainly be hard to catch with those postage stamp weights. Inok is a seasoned campaigner, loves 1200m and will appreciate Jerry Noske getting back in the saddle. Regardless of how he jumps he'll pull himself forward and ensure there's a genuine battle for the lead. When We Were Kings and Balavan are both class runners first up, with the latter making his WA debut after an 11 length Albany trial win in style, sure to be a few eyes on him.
4. THUNDERLUV'N - 9. WAR PRINCE - 6. INOK (NZ)
SUGGESTED BET - 4. THUNDERLUV'N $10 x $20
Full Steam Ahead is WA's biggest horse and only WA's biggest jockey can get the best out of him, Paul Harvey. With the Pontiff aboard Full Steam Ahead is always a threat, take Harvey off and save your money. Drops 2.5kg on a last start victory having bypassed the Geraldton Cup. Expect him to be honouring his Mum as they round the corner and be coming "Like A Steam Train". Perfect eachway bet at 5s and always hit the 'request' button on PUNTA.com.au to squeeze a little more out of the boys who will happily take you on. Mr Utopia should have arguably added listed success to his name last start in the Grandstand Cup and in my eyes was robbed but of course I'm a bias punter with a one eyed opinion. Looks to be back to his best and will go very close to securing a deserved victory. Amelias Dancer would be the perfect winner of the York Stakes on Amelia Park day. Carrying the Amelia Park-Walsh colours he was awesome first up but flat second up without excuses. 1600m specialist with all round quality and can't be discounted. Bombora has his first crack at a mile and surely nobody would leave a Simon Miller runner out of their quaddie?
6. FULL STEAM AHEAD - 7. MR UTOPIA - 3. AMELIAS DANCER
SUGGESTED BET - 6. FULL STEAM AHEAD $20 x $20
Recently I've been backing horses dropping back from 2000m to a mile or 2200 to 1800 and having success, horses like Media Alert and Canyousee Me Smile. So I'm sticking with that and selecting Magical Mist, King Cubator and Prisoner Of War - all dropping from 2200 back to 1800m. Magical Mist looks much better suited at this distance after being found wanting late in the race at her last two. Drawn perfectly in barrier 2 for Pike she should be in the finish. King Cubator hasn't seen the winners enclosure for over 600 days but his last start effort behind Go Tiger was big, treking wide the entire race lumping 60kg. Should find this run a fair bit easier. Prisoner Of War has good form at 1800 beating Paseo Del Prado and finishing a length behind Bedamijo. Fedde has had a myriad of gear changes and been back to the trials after trying to lose his rider at Bunbury, Noske back aboard is a positive move and I'm including him for 4th. Venetian Prince is a query over the distance, carries a big weight compared to recent assignments and has won just once from 19 starts at Ascot so I'm happy to take him on here and leave him out.
7. MAGICAL MIST (NZ) - 8. KING CUBATOR - 9. PRISONER OF WAR
SUGGESTED BET - 7. MAGICAL MIST (NZ) $20 x $20
Baleen In Me isn't a big mare by any means but her motor is huge and she'll go very close to winning first up again. Never missed the money at 1000m, finished outside the top 3 only once from 10 starts, placed behind Smoko and Shining Knight she has the form on the board and will take some beating first up. Her warm up trial was much better then it looks on paper, bottled away in restricted room Parnham had no intention of winning which she could have done with ease. Lord Balthazar is always capable of running into the minor money, found trouble first up along the fence but with 52kg and another good barrier draw could be a nice place bet on the tote as I see him drifting well beyond the 13s currently on offer. Im throwing up Acorns as an exotic/novelty inclusion to add some value, has struggled in WA since arriving and only placed once from 11 starts at Ascot, deserves to be at a big price but I think given the right run can sneak into 3rd or 4th. Madam Sass is your classic roving banker/places anchor type, always around the mark and Regal Romp was super first up but I think he's too short. Babieca Noire has won two in a row down the straight while Geiger Rio goes well at Ascot and is well weighted. Wide open affair but Im happy to be aboard the favourite Baleen In Me.
4. BALEEN IN ME - 8. LORD BALTHAZAR - 1. ACORNS
SUGGESTED BET - 4. BALEEN IN ME $40
Dubai Escapade looks poised to post his 5th career victory after he put the writing on the wall last start finishing a half length third after sitting three and four deep throughout. Drawn to get a gun run in transit, well weighted with 57 and Harvey staying aboard he ticks a lot of boxes in what looks a fairly even field behind him. Go Tiger won well last start with Carbery pushing through a narrow opening near the rail, drops 5.5kg from that effort and is sure to be there abouts again. Red Mercedes has been tumbling in the ratings throughout this preparation and looks to have been slowing winding up to a bold showing. Brocky's Deal was somewhat of a surprise packet last start, crunched from 16s into 9s on fixed markets and found some trouble swinging for home. Not convinced he'll run out a strong 2200 however money doesn't lie and I'd be foolish to leave him out of the quaddie. Daneclicked has been struggling but is better then that, Bedamijo had a nightmare last start and can bounce back. Gold Flight and Pike should be respected while Pants On Friar will probably run another eye catcher but seems like a get back non-winner type.
4. DUBAI ESCAPADE - 8. GO TIGER - 3. RED MERCEDES
SUGGESTED BET - 4. DUBAI ESCAPADE $35 x $35
