Kerrigan bowled like he has a good 98 with the bat in him

Good old Watson, Wait until the pressure is off and then perform..Get rid of him and his insipdly weak body and give someone else an opportunity....and at the same time get rid of Cowan as well and Warner too..rant over

Bailey is so hot right now...

Thought he was of average talent with a less than spectacular shot catalog when he debuted as captain, but he is really leading from the front in the short formats...any reason why he couldnt force his way into the Ashes team in this form, couldnt be that hard with the bunch we have.

Averaged 18 in first class cricket (shield) in the longer form last season.
The tracks he's been playing on have been FLAT. He's not the answer to our problems.
Uzy needs to be given a crack, or if Doolan scores in the first 2 shield games then throw him in.

Confidence and exposure at the highest level can improve some guys exponentially.

Is he the answer, well of course not, there is no answer in the short to medium term for CA.

You keep pumping up Uzys tyres and he continues to fail or fail to take his chances, has been given a few chances to date, looks a million dollars at the crease until he finds another way to get out.

Not saying Bailey should be in the team, but you could probably argue giving him a chance given how fragile our batting lineup is, could provide a cool head down the order.

You want to read Hayden's book.
Although quite an annoying happy clapper, he does go in to detail how hard it is to get yourself set coming in as an occasional batsman.

I'm not convinced on Bailey but if he is in contention he should be on the first plain back to Tassie. If he performs in the first couple of shield games then I have no problems if they select him but he should not be picked purely from ODI form especially on those wickets. Unfortunately I think that's exactly what's going to happen.

Oh and Watson, Johnson and Haddin should be back here too give some guys like Hartley and Dan Christian a go while giving anyone considered for the Ashes 4 day cricket as a proper lead up. But it'll never happen as the BCCI would crack the sh*ts and SA found out you don't want to get on their bad side. So we'll forsake our lead up to the most important test series in years to keep them happy................

Bailey with another big innings. Watson caught consecutive balls but not out...lol

Should I be worried I am thinking like selectors, Bailey to debut.

He deserves a chance IMO, he isn't going to take the spot of anyone worth a mention..

I'm all for picking the best players or players in form, but the Gabba is no indian one-day, flat-track.
With no stand-outs surely that is the time to blood an up and comer like Doolan.
Warner will struggle against quality new balls bowlers too. If Clarke can't stand up then we will struggle.
The bowling attack basically picked itself due to injuries to our best 2 pacemen. Johno needs to fire or his test career is gonski

Funk you continue to spruke Doolan but I'd be interested to know how much of him you've actually seen? A couple of Aus A gigs have been televised including the weekend just gone were Jimmy Anderson sorted him out but other than that a couple of games against WA at the WACA if you've been down there? I don't have a strong opinion on him either way as I just haven't seen enough.

As for the series Harris is the absolute key. Swann was the difference in Enland but on our tracks he won't be anywhere near as affective and Harris is the best seamer from either side by a margin. If he stays fit we'll give it a huge shake. Our middle order is vulnerable though, I'll be interested to see what would happen if its 1-1 after 3 tests and Bailey or Smith are struggling like I expect they will. May see a young M. North get a call up the way he's started this year and with his experience. A long way off yes but don't rule it out.

I haven't seen that much of Doolan either, but I did see most of his 160* against a quality Sth African bowling line-up which was top quality. He looks very good technically and has started the shield season off well, currently averaging 94.
Apparently big wraps on Maddinson as well, not that ive seen any of him. I do rate Chris Lynn highly but for some reason he has been labelled a short-form specialist. He's averaging 153 from 2 shield games this year

I would love to see the breakdown of the runs scored between bowlers and batsmen these past 3 years.

I seem to continually be making the same joke about our bowlers scoring all the runs...

Surely the bowlers have been making a higher contribution to the scorecard in recent years than in the past, which of course is a blight on our battling stocks.

    Old ball. Tired(er) bowlers

There's one mob not scoring any runs at all - James Sutherland and Cricket Australia. They must take some reponsibility for reducing the National side to a joke courtesy of absolutely hopeless programming. The Poms were here for weeks whilst our players were (a) in India (b) playing in some pointless one day series in NSW or (c) helping to acclimatise the enemy with a series of mix and match tour games. Meanwhile, the best Test Player nursery in the world (the Sheffiel Shield) has been reduced to little more than a wasted competition. All this whilst we are supposed to be preparing for an Ashes series. I think the first time the side got together was at the Gabba for 3 rain affected net sessions. With all the High Performance managers, coaches, physios, sport scientists and other associated key performance individuals, we can't keep bowlers on the park Meanwhile, the press goings on of who loves who and who doesn't and why,  make for Home and Away reading practice and the end result is a very predictable performance and a lot of English Cricketers looking supremely confidant, But whenever anyone from the board is interviewed, all is well, there is nothing to worry about, we are rebuilding and its all going to be apples.

Marcus North Comeback on the cards with another ton today!  Bailey just needs another 2 or 3 prods into the slips and it's on...........

Great day for the Aus cricket team, need to make England bowl all day tomorrow now and have Broad and Anderson bowl 25 overs each.  Both teams are one or 2 bowlers breaking down from dissaster so the longer we can bat the better.

The Aussie mongrel and arrogance has returned I hope they can maintain the rage.

I'm all for the arrogance and sledging on field but I thought Warners comments about Trott were very average, he of all people should worry about his own problems.

Solid win but thought we went over the top personally, Clarke's comment to a number 11 just seemed like spoiled school kids finally getting on top. Siddle no better.

Nothing wrong with a batsmen giving it to England's No.1 bowler when he is at the crease out of his comfort zone. Anderson has no problems mouthing off when he has the ball and has 10 team mates to back him up. Given their history regarding a dressing room incident it is no surprise.
With helmets, arm & chest guards these days No.11's are fair game.
Warner is a dick-head and needs to learn to leave it on the field. The ACB should ban him from speaking to the media and all forms of social media.
