And the snowball continues.
They cant even get the damn day started on time.
I don't care why, it just smacks of incompetence.
Just like leaving the sprinklers on all night.

Seems the on course commentary was informed but nobody passed it on to sky. These things always seem to be around super Saturday for some reason. The crowd doesn't look much looking from 500M away

Exactly what I said on another thread.... SKY can surely only get the message from the commentator and he hasn't done his job?

RIO best you catch up with him next time your at the races instead of potting everyone on here. Im sure he would be delighted with your constructive criticism?

its a RWWA issue..they have stated they will not allow this lack of communication to happen again....they can can take it up with whoever it is that is meant to communicate to Sky..

whats the difference between a delay and cancelled??? the lack of care factor you two are on about is the sort of i don't give a shit attitude that has our industry close to the bottom run of the thoroughbred industry in Australia

Hysteria???? over lack of communication???? not here, just highlighting RWWA's inability to within 4 weeks of committing to communicate information better than in the past they cant achieve it..

I feel a better statement would be....Incompetence continues to rule...but each to their own..why we all like a forum to put forward our thoughts

You cant be serious? The difference between a FIVE minute delay and cancelling a meeting is huge.... Soneone just has a chip on their shoulder by the sound and feel of a lot of your posts on here. Would hate to train for you!

if your a trainer forelock and you can accept this poor level of communication....being a trainer for me will never be an issue you would need to worry about..

The issue is not 5 minutes, or 10 minutes or cancelled meetings..All that is very easily accepted. The issues is keeping people informed of the situation. If anyone watched Sky yesterday and was happy with how our product (WA Racing) was seen, then we really are in for a long haul of getting ourselves out of our current slump.

And i would suggest your probably a stalwart of the industry as when an issue gets discussed in a manner you don't like you then go and attack the person.....bring it on!!!!!!

lets say the commentator advised sky and sky did not have time, or did not deem it necessary to broadcast the fact there was a slight delay in perth.

have a look at the amount of racing going on at 1.15pm on a saturday, i'd say the staff at sky would not have time to scratch themselves.

to blame rwwa and/or the commentator is folly in the extreme.

a normal person would just shrug and say "big pharqueing deal"...

    :-< :-<

and there we have the good old days shining through strongly....close enough is good enough....Was never a problem in the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, so it has to be okay now????

Unfortunately for some we are now in the information era..Actually have been for 30+ years and leading into our biggest day of racing for the year it was not a great look on the national and international broadcaster..

My opinion isn't always right...But it will never stop me voicing it, and when someone highlights why it is wrong, i have no problem changing it....only argument that has been put up here to accept this performance is that complacency about communicating information is okay.. in my world it isn't.

About five minutes before the scheduled start time of race 1
RWWA tweeted that the ambulance was not on course and there would be a short delay.

oh and one other thing i haven't said that RWWA are to blame or the commentator, I've just said - constantly and probably quite annoyingly constantly - that it wasn't handled well enough

that's good, so RWWA had announced it to some, i wonder if more people are following on twitter or TV??
  • thefalconthefalcon    20,504 posts

who in the hell would have even noticed or cared about a 5 min. UNAVOIDABLE delay.

say a horse had to be re-shod...same difference.

  • RIORIO    14,902 posts
and if it was tweeted obviously RWWA saw it as an issue, and had a need to inform people...as was done on course..just not on TV it seems

at least it's a topic on and about Perth Racing..

Good to hear all those other mediums were used to get the message out, which appears proof that RWWA were concerned about the issue and did want to get the message out..Just a shame how it was dealt with on SKY.....

Am amazed at how many small minded people still see it as a time issue...It's not the time that is the issue, it is the information being relayed to the public that was and always will be the issue.
  • watchinguwatchingu    46 posts
Mate  ,  the information was relayed , the race was not going to jump on time .. that is the information .

If Sky dont listen to the commentators complain to them .

And that is what i personally will follow up on.

But if this thread wasn't up and all these people didn't put forward this information, the only perception i would have of the event was how it was poorly commented on by SKY

It appears that RWWA has done all it can to notify as many people as possible..Who knows what went wrong with SKY?!?!?!?? but i know that we don't need to have that sort of coverage again.

Sure I think in isolation this is nothing, but is more about the snowball of angst amongst industry towards shithouse running of the show. That something like this gets people riled up - says it all really.

Don't agree with you all the time falc but I do in this case. It is apparent that someone from RWWA monitors this site but it loses credibility if we go off halfcocked about incididents of this nature. Races all around the world run late for a variety if reasons and before everyone goes on about a lack of communication in this case that does not appear to be the case. Many on here are always too ready to pull the trigger, perhaps employment with the Victorian Police force would bea good option.

yes, they would be far better concentrating on not leaving them standing in the gates for 27.5 minutes nearly every race,
as we are so keen on comparing to other joints, then watch and learn!

or explaining why those distances at mount barker are different and yet start from the same position as previous seasons.
that is one thing that surely deserves an explanation.

what relevance does your last sentence have aquanita?
