R1. Westspeed 2yo Plate - Dane Hollingworth

We start the day with a small field for the two year olds and I am expecting (1) Star Glitter to be a warm favorite.

However I am going to tip (2) Vital Art on an each way basis here who I think with some genuine luck last time out should have finished a lot closer to the Unbeaten colt Roebuck. He raced three to four wide on that occasion but was still able to attack the line late in the piece, which suggests the step up to 1100m will be right up his alley. I think he has enough gate speed and to get over and settle in the first four in running and from there I think he might just be too hard to get over in the straight.

(1) Star Glitter is a deserved favorite and he has been pretty good at both his career starts to date. He was sent out the warm favorite last start and didn?t let his supporters down with a narrow yet tough victory. I am expecting him to breeze again here and from there he will be pretty hard to beat.

(5) Mysticity was game in defeat last time out after leading throughout and only going down by three quarters of a length to Star Glitter. He should burn across from a wide gate and give them all something to catch again.

(6) Do You Do was luckless first up behind Star Glitter and she can improve here. I expect her to push forward from a nice gate and look the winner somewhere in the straight.

2. VITAL ART - 1. STAR GLITTER - 5. MYSTICITY

SUGGESTED BET - 2. VITAL ART $25 x $25

    R2. Westspeed 3yo Sprint - Dane Hollingworth

A tricky little race is the second and I could make a case for every single runner in the event.

I have settled on (8) Wanderlust from the Eric Wake stable who has been most impressive at both his two career starts. He was a good winner first up at Northam before running a fast finishing third behind the talented Saint Bro. There looks to be enough speed in the race to give back markers a chance here and if he is close enough on the turn then I am expecting him to be pretty hard to hold out.

    (1) Lenience improved sharply last start and was able to pinch a similar race by leading from go to whoa. I expect Parnham to adopt similar tactics here and let him bowl along in front; he will be the one the field has to run down.

    (5) Common Approach did very well to win first up after a number of gaps closed on him down the Bunbury straight. Provided he gets some room to move in the straight then he should be mowing turf late.

    (6) Grenardini has trialed well and I think the market will be your best guide to his chances first up today.

    8. WANDERLUST - 1. LENIENCE - 5. COMMON APPROACH

R3. Taipa Handicap - Dane Hollingworth

We see the return of the highly promising (8) Smoko here and I am expecting him to lead, drop a gear late and win. He really isn?t a betting proposition at 1.25 but I am just happy to sit back and watch him strut his stuff.

Its pretty open outside the favorite and opinions will be divided. I have settled on (4) Iseethingsyoudont who is unbeaten first up and has won four races at the distance. He should be prominent in the run and I am expecting to him to pinch some prize money.

    (2) Tiger Pete will enjoy the pretty hot tempo up front and he has drawn to get a lovely run in transit; watch for him charging home late.

    (6) Wild Charger is another horse who will enjoy the speed up front and he was very good last start when knocking of Shining Knight. I expect Turner to drop him out and save him for one last crack at them.

    8. SMOKO - 4. ISEETHINGSYOUDON'T - 2. TIGER PETE

    R4. Perthracing.com.au Handicap - Dane Hollingworth

There looks to be a lot of speed on paper and so I am leaning towards the back markers in this event.

    (6) King Of The Palace is in great form and was aided by a perfect ride from Noske last start to beat the highly promising Dark Delight. He is a horse blessed with a nice turn of foot and from a better gate today I think he can push up and be in a more prominent racing position. Provided he gets some room to move in the straight then he should look the winner at some stage.

    (7) Celebrity Miss was vey good first up when settling next to last in running and storming home late to run second to Ejay?s Girl. She is likely to get back from a wide gate but with the expected hot tempo up front I think she will be very hard to hold out late.

    (5) Marchand was a good winner at Northam last start however the form out of that race is questionable. Turner should be able to have this horse in a prominent position and it has each way claims.

    (1) Mia China Doll was far from disgraced behind Smoko last start and she should give this field something to catch

    6. KING OF THE PALACE - 7. CELEBRITY MISS - 5. MARCHAND

    SUGGESTED BET - 6. KING OF THE PALACE $25 x $25

R5. Ascot Gold Cup - Dane Hollingworth

Its hard to ignore the run of (3) Angel Of Mercy in the Northam cup when settling just in behind the speed and going crunch upon straightening to win by almost four lengths. Clearly she is going to need some luck from a tricky draw but if she repeats her last start performance then she should make it two wins on the trot.

    (5) Black Uma looks the likely leader in the event and if he can get across without spending too many pennies then he might just be too hard to run down. He was a tough victor last time out ahead of Full Steam Ahead and I think he has very good each way claims with some luck.

    (2) Classique Ivory is an interesting runner who resumes off the back of a successful goldfields tilt. He goes well fresh and has had the benefit of a barrier trial leading up to todays event, the only query is first up over 1800m,

    (3) Cyber Crime has been finishing of his races nicely and he is a must for first four players.

    (11) Knightlike attacked the line well behind Black Uma at its last start, he looks a blowout chance if they go hard up front.

    3. ANGEL OF MERCY - 5. BLACK UMA - 6. CLASSIQUE IVORY(NZ)

    R6. Waroa-lee Steere Stakes - Dane Hollingworth

I am speculating too a degree here that (1) Luckygray is ready to rock and roll first up after an unsuccessful Melbourne campaign. His recent trial was good when he was snagged to the tail of the field early and then ran home down the outside under his own head of steam. He should be worse then midfield in running today and provided he has handled the travelling and new training environment then I expect him to be charging home late.

    (2) Playing God recaptured some old form by posting a pretty impressive win last time out in the Northerly Stakes. I just query where he will end up from the outside marble, however with some luck he can make it back-to-back wins.

    (4) Ranger has a good second up record and his record at the distance is fairly handy too. I won?t be backing this horse until he can win a race however on his day he is very talented; look for him piercing gaps late.

    (9) Checkpoint was huge last start when getting within three quarters of a length of Barakey and Power Princess. Provided last start wasn?t a gut buster and he handles the step up to the 1400m for the first time then he can play a part.

    1. LUCKYGRAY - 2. PLAYING GOD - 4. RANGER

R7. Fairetha Stakes - Dane Hollingworth

I am going for the deserved favorite here and tipping (1) Petrol Power who was brilliant in the Belgravia when settling worse then midfield and rattling home to just miss. He showed he is not one dimensional that day and I like the way Brown was able to get him to settle off the pace. He gets all the favors in running, from barrier three and with the two kilograms off from last start he looks mighty hard to beat.

    (16) Saint Bro was impressive on debut when settling outside the speed and showing a nice turn of foot late to put his rivals away. He should boot up from barrier two and be in the first few in running, this is his acid test.

    (5) Itsahymn steps up to a more suitable distance today and it would be no surprise to see him win this. He appeared slightly hampered in the straight last time out and with a bit more time to settle today I think he will be mowing turf late.

(4)Coruscation is a tough on pace style runner and he was very good in the Belgravia behind Arcadia Rose. They have the luxury of either leading or taking a sit today and he will look the winner somewhere in the straight.

    (6) Run For Rum has been in very good form this prep, he needs a lot to go his way from that barrier but he could be a knockout chance.

    1. PETROL POWER - 16. SAINT BRO - 5. IHTSAHYMN

    SUGGESTED BET - 1. PETROL POWER $50 x $50

R8. Super Saturday At Ascot On November 23 Handicap - Dane Hollingworth

I?m sticking with the inform (1) Ancient Spell who has been a model of consistency this preparation. He put in an eye catching effort at his last start when settling midfield and running on well late to grab fourth. I am expecting Faithfull to be positive from a wide gate and provided she is, then I think he looks a great each way bet in the last.

    (6) Galaxon had a number of excuses first up and he was strong to the line late. He ran a fast finishing fourth in the Broome Cup over the same distance so the step up today should not worry him one bit. Provided he gets some room to move in the straight then he can win this.

    (10) Maussane looks an out and out stayer and he should relish the step up in distance here. I am expecting Pike to be positive from a good gate and if this race turns into a real staying test then he has undeniable winning claims.

    (4) Dubai Escapade was pretty plain last start but he did have some genuine excuses. If he was to bounce back to his best form then he is another with each way claims.

    1. ANCIENT SPELL - 6. GALAXON - 10. MAUSSANE

    SUGGESTED BET - 1. ANCIENT SPELL $25 x $25

Looking at these tips makes me think that it should be an easy day for those who like a punt. Those are the most dangerous days in my opinion.

I would take nothing for granted with the exception of Smoko. But even his days are numbered until he meets something that will truly extend him out of his comfort zone, it's just a matter of how many wins can he rack up before that day.
