Usually a good crowd and a big day of racing this weekend.
Smoko will be back and might be our next really good sprinter (even though Barakey is back now and hopefully back to his best).
Also the Northerly and the Belgravia this weekend.

I'm so excited............ I have a new step ladder !! Hopefully this year whilst trying to take high quality images from poor quality locations, I won't fall off like last season fracturing my wrist. I also found my bug repellent, and fly masks.

This year I will be shooting more video/stills combination, but it is seriously a lot of gear to carry back and forth along the river pathway, so I will use it sparingly.

No worries Rio, what I like best about that sort of shot, is that it tells a story. That is Talent Show winning last year's Perth Cup.

its an interesting photo. Talent Show, the ex-Peters horse, flanked by four Peter's horses directly to her inside and outside.

...super pic - good promo tool for each owner's horses to be highlighted against a B&W field.

I used to do a lot of them but for this season at Belmont I decided to stop as I thought too much of a good thing. Here are a few more, mostly winners highlighted in the home turn and where they were in the run.

Sky Channel should broadcast all of Luckygray's races in this format. He is clearly superior and the other horses don't even deserve recogntion imo. :x

Just noticed on my Facebook feed, that Perth Racing held a competition with part of the prize being free tickets to opening day. When did this day stop being a free entry day ? Thousands used to go along, and especially as they are unveiling the statue of Northerly, I personally feel this is very short sighted by those who roam the hallowed halls of the WATC.

Damien , 2 years ago you had to start paying. It was a great a day to go to the races for free and introduce new people to the races for nothing, not anymore.

At Irish Day they had what appeared to be thousands of double free entry passes being handed out

I guess it's a 'make them feel they are getting something for free kinda deal'

I picked up a bunch of the tickets and have handed them out.  They'll still get a good crowd, as opening day always is fairly popular.  They probably have 2,000-5,000 free entry passes out there.

Hard to know if throwing the gates open or using free entry passes is better - I'd always think throw the gates open and make your coin with on course punting and food/beverage - but I think outside the square!

Reckon Smoko has to be a lay from the outside marble a stack of pace in it and he is 1st up without a trial ,reckon the cerise and white willl have a big day out headed by Arcadia Rose

He did win from 12 of 12 last start before his spell, hard to know how fresh he is - but Teen Idol shouldn't be handing up easily.

The noms for Saturday look good atm, fingers crossed they stay good sized!

Arcadia Rose is a huge step up in class. Petrol Power is the horse to beat.

Should be free entry all of time. Might get more people at least dropping in for a few races.

Arcadia Rose is a big step up but she is up to it on the minimum nice barrier good jockey and trainer. The stable have a big wrap on her. Have to Agree Petrol Power is the horse she will have to beat.
