Thought I'd make a thread for any news related to the three big races - seeing as we're only about 2-3 months away

First unfortunate news - Jakkalberry injured, no show at this years Melbourne Cup - real shame - after last years excellent run!

Ive learnt from the past and now i start taking futures and doubles from a few months out, some would say this is crazy as the odds on the day can often be higher than months out from the cups but its not always the case with the imports.

NOW WE CAN, Love this horse and im sure he will turn up here on his way to Hong Kong and ive backed him everyway possible e/w, doubles and straight out.

SEVILLE, He had a set back last year and if he regained his form on cup day hes a chance.

DEAR DEMI, Sentimental betting on her, shes won me a stack in the past so im backing her for the caufield cup and in doubles.

MASKED MARVEL and DANDINO are two others ive been specking.

I thought that this thread would have a bit of action seeming its only around the corner and so many new prospects to study.

Ive decided to head over for a few days and catch the cup and a few other races.

Not sure i will be getting involved in the future markets straight out but the doubles to interest me.

If anyone saw Verema run on Sunday night in the Prix kergloy, she has potential to give it a shake up. Ran in the 3200m race in Dubai earlier this year and came 3rd to Cavalryman but had the hardest trip of the race, 3 and 4 wide all the way and still ran on well.

After its win on Sunday night it was $101 in the Melb Cup into $61.

If anyones interested here is her run in Meydan.

Would be just great for WA and WA Racing if a WA horse was to jag one of the majors or even a Group race during the spring.. Remember the likes of Northerly and Rogan Josh causing a stir in the eastern states and causing eastern staters to say along the lines of: "Oh gee look at that horse, it's from WA" In the east it's more of a surprise but in the West - it drives us West Aussie's crazy with excitement. It's so good and it gives WA racing fans a bit more excitement and a boost.

All you WA people on this forum know exactly what I mean, and I can't describe the feeling but it's a good one that's for sure. It's almost like we as West Aussie's stand as one and support the WA horses when they do well in the east.

    Cheers,

    PC.

Mount Athos will be right in the mix this year - his run last year was excellent, and appears to be holding up well.

I'm on Simenon at 100-1 - good luck @Jordan with your bloke, still $120 on bf
