R1. Del Basso Importers & Exporters Pty Ltd Handicap - Gary Wright
The usual small field to commence Italian Day at Belmont. A couple of these have shown very good promise, one of which is Mountain Haze which will be the selection here. He won well at Ascot back in January before a meritorious third to Camporella at his only other race start, that now looks pretty good form. The Durrant stable has been firing of late and could get off to a good start today. The obvious danger looks to be the suprise first up winner in Ignition, he led all the way at big odds to win the first race of the Belmont season two weeks ago, he was at long odds that day, but no such luxury today, does rise a kilo in weight and has drawn the outside gate today though, but you would still expcect a forward showing. Rio Samba was scratched from a Northam event on Thursday for this race today and looks a place chance, as does Crown Saga, who ran fourth to Ignition at her first race start a fortnight ago.

And its hard to go past Raising Dubai after that effort last week, he met his main opposition quite a deal worse off on weights and still bolted in by over four lengths. He raced closer to the lead last week so expect that to be the norm from now on, on last weeks run he just looks the winner again here. He has been set for a couple of the major staying races coming up here at Belmont and this should just be a stepping stone towards those races. Black Moment probably didnt have a lot of luck last week, he did race wide for a fair while in the same race and just didnt really come on in the striaght, with a better run in transit today he does look the main opposition to Raising Dubai. Monumental is probably on trial at the distance but has been racing well of late, and you would still rate him a place chance here, along with Mr Consistency in Cyber Crime, always about the place in these types of races
9. RAISING DUBAI - 5. BLACK MOMENT - 6. MONUMENTAL
SUGGESTED BET - 9. RAISING DUBAI $60
It's A Bit Shady has been most impressive at his four race starts to date, it was certainly no disgrace running second to Back To A Walk last start here at Belmont, and that followed on from a good win at Ascot in mid April. He steps up to 1600 metres for the first time today and has drawn one from the outside as far as the barrier draw in concerned but Its A Bit Shady should just be a bit too good for these, and looms as one of the better bets of the day. Advantage Norman has found some form this campaign, he finally won a maiden at Bunbury during the carnival and has gone on with it since, and was a good last start winner at Northam, charging home that day, so the mile looks to suit him here. One that is racing consistently but rises a huge amount in weight on her last start is Futurism, hard to ignore the consistent form she is finally showing though and still a place chance today, with the Albany trained Tee Pee Cat some sort of novelty chance as well today.
2. IT'S A BIT SHADY - 1. ADVANTAGE NORMAN - 5. FUTURISM
SUGGESTED BET - 2. IT'S A BIT SHADY $60
A very open race here with many chances, we had a similar race two weeks ago and a rank outsider won the race, so probably best not to invest too heavily here. One that ran a close second in that race was Black Magic Miss, she missed the start badly that day and made good ground along the rails to just be pipped at the post. Once again she has come up with the inside barrier and may need a little luck to get off the fence, but that last run was full of merit and she looks to have as good a chance as anything in this race today. Ziva Star led in the same race and just weakened out of it late, she probably leads again today and will give them something to run down again here. Stay Lady Stay can also make her prescence felt today, she was a good third in the race two weeks ago and has a nice draw here, and another to watch is Dual City, scratched from Northam on Thursday to run in this race, with in form Jarrad Noske on board.
7. BLACK MAGIC MISS - 6. ZIVA STAR - 3. STAY LADY STAY
SUGGESTED BET - 7. BLACK MAGIC MISS $20 x $20
Today is the big test for Razed In Flames, he has been ultra impressive in two country wins so far, today he comes to town and starts from the outside barrier, so he will have to prove his worth here. I think he is a really good galloper in the making and will stick with him to win once again today. He did bring good country form over from Victoria and has only been unplaced once in eight starts, he looks the best horse in the race so he should overcome that outside draw. The Weapon is first up today, its fair to say he didnt come up to expectations last time in, but he has a wonderful record when resuming, so watch out for a good run from him here. The Cavalieri came from well back for a good win at his last start at Pinjarra and must be respected, as must Galaxy Prince, another resuming after a bit of a break this afternoon, drawn wide also but has a lot of ability, this is a good race here.
11. RAZED IN FLAMES - 9. THE WEAPON - 8. THE CAVALIERI(NZ)
SUGGESTED BET - 11. RAZED IN FLAMES $30 x $30
As you would expect the Roma Cup has brought together a crack field of sprinters at weight for age, so a great race ensuing here. Its hard to go past Power Princess, her first up record is impeccable, and trainer Simon Miller has publicly stated she is now right at her top for this assignment today. She has never been unplaced at nine starts here at Belmont and has a drawn beautifully to sit off the pace and power home, she is the on top selection today. Kerrific has been freshened up since his last start victory at Ascot in the Grandstand Cup, he is one of numerous chances for the minors today. Cavallo Pazzo is now race fit and ready to run well, he will probably appreciate the weight conditions here, has been giving most of his opposition weight in recent runs, and another suited here looks to be Waratah's Secret, drawn the inside barrier and more suited here than in the Northam SprinT last start, once again a terrific field to contest this edition of the Roma Cup
9. POWER PRINCESS - 7. KERRIFIC - 6. CAVALLO PAZZO
SUGGESTED BET - 9. POWER PRINCESS $50
This is no exception today. A maximum field and you can make a case for most of them. One that will probably lead this race from a perfect draw is Nova Joe, at least you will get a run for your money if you back him, whereas there are a few who may require a little luck in running here. Nova Joe ran a good second to Dirty Flirty last start at Pinjarra, that following two succesive wins when leading all the way. Dirty Flirty may be at good odds here, he has won his last two at Pinjarra and looms as a good propect again today. Others like You Say So who must be about at his peak, and his conquerer last start Madam Jewel also come into calculations, and another who will start at good odds is Let's Buy Iht, she was in terrific form at Bunbury over the autumn, she will probably appreciate this company a little more than at her last start here a fortnight ago. Its a race to go wide in quaddies and very difficult to suggest anything to have a bet on with great confidence though.
8. NOVA JOE - 1. DIRTY FLIRTY - 7. YOU SAY SO
This lightly raced horse has a good record when racing first up, a good record at Belmont and returns this afternoon, its hard to go past him. He apparently doesnt appreciate the heat, so certainly doesnt have that to worry about today on the float trip down from Geraldton, he has drawn beautifully and is a great pick up ride for Geraldton local Andrew Masters, who replaces the injured Paul Harvey on board today. Its a very good race to close the Italian day programme but Full Steam Ahead has the class on his side here. One that may start at good each way odds is Uncle George, he may just sprint well fresh this afternoon, he raced really well when last in work over longer distances, with the big field here you would expect plenty of pace to be on which might suit him. Iseethingsyoudon't must also be respected, he is a first up winner and resumes today, although from a poor barrier, he may have to do some work if they want to race in a forward position here, and amongst the other chances once again is Carry The Nation, becoming costly for punters with his tardy starts, he does come in well on weights here, if he could just get out today and utilise the inside barrier draw, he may run a good race.

Raising Dubai as the best pick of the day, but not sure if it is the best value if under 3's
Tough day, good chance to come out in front if you can find 3 or 4 IMO
