Very difficult race with lots of different formlines merging. Looks to be a bit of speed in the race. I'm thinking Fanicio might be way over the odds looking at his formline through Global Flirt/Uncle George & Milken Whiskey. Uncle George beat home Pop Culture in the Derby and just beat home GF yesterday. Milken Whiskey also won yesterday. GF was 1.9L in front of Fanicio at level weights but he was first up. Given that he might be up to beating Pop Culture who is one third the price today. At $12+ I won't die wondering anyway.
Ameilas Dancer the saver with his amazing 1600m stats and should get the run of the race.

Did NOT win on the race but how good does Willie look when he leads...it is just so bloody rare to see him go forward.

    That didn't go well!

Pretty uncompetive race from the half mile and the leader was always going to be hard to beat. Just beaten in this race last year, won a race since and got in on the minimum. Dropping 7kg from his last 2 starts and was the fittest horse in the race along with the runner up. I knew all that but a likely strong tempo blinkered me.

    Ringmeister all the way :))

and 1st and 2nd were both out of the handicap, which is the norm for wa, and the perfect indicator that the handicappers are over rating their so called higher grade races.
ringmeister by 2kg and mcscar by 4kg.

it's actually a very interesting phenomena as far as wa goes.
the higher the supposed grade, then the proportionately more ooth winners there are.

Not Williams best ride on Bobby Benzine. Went early when he could have nursed it for a lot longer. Outridden by Aaron Mitchell!

all credit to pike for getting away with a cheep lead, but do jockeys count times in a race??
they do it day in - day out at track work. . .
surely the same apply's for a race when they know they cant run home faster than 34..

Fabulous day at Northam today. I shot hours of footage and I expect it will take many weeks to edit. Great crowd on hand, and well behaved. Northam Race Club put on a great show today for Country Racing.

Northam Cup? Might as well call it the Northam Mile. Given time the Perth Cup will be over the 1600. :D
