The ONLY future for Perth Racing is to redevelop Belmont,make it a vibrant,brand new racecourse,with NIGHT RACING.
You can tap into the new stadium and all of a sudden Belmont is the action place to be.
You make the place attractive and affordable to young people,some funky bars with TAB machines. And make Belmont a 12 month a year racetrack,with predominantly night racing.
You still have Ascot as your main summer carnival racing venue,but make Belmont your new look,young persons,exciting venue,similar to Hong Kong/Singapore.
It will cost millions and millions and will never happen if The Government of the day don't commit to it.
But the alternative is that Perth racing will continue to be a small blimp on the radar.
State Govt....mate they would not give PR a sniff of their hot $hit.
I suppose Perth Racing can sell part of Belmont for housing and use that money to build a new look Belmont with lights.
But I doubt they'd have enough money even then.
If something positive doesnt happen soon Perth racing will become nothing, as ,unfortunately,racing,no longer draws a crowd.
We need to tap into young people,not the silver foxes and grey nomads.
I doubt whether they'll get 20,000 for Super Saturday.Black Caviar not coming has put paid to that

my local track at cranbourne starts night racing soon i have been told.

The numbers above show the contribution to stakes made by Perth Racing above and beyond that of RWWA distribution. I have copied them directly across from the Perth Racing Annual Report. The final figure in each line is the most recent year. It shows that Perth Racing contributed $782,000 to that given by RWWA, so averaged out across a full year of 726 races, their commitment was $1077.13 per race.
I thought this a relevant point when talking about light towers etc.
Prizemoney must at least remain the same or higher regardless of whether Belmont ever gets lights.
The need for lights at Belmont is only a dream for those of us who know its the right solution.
The money must come from The State Government,selling of land at Belmont and any other avenue.
It probably won't ever happen, but what other solutions are there to improve Perth racing ?

for three beers (had two mates with me). "sorry, can only buy two at a time" says barman. Okay I buy just two (ridiculous prices!!) and then go back
to order one beer. "sorry Sir you have to wait 5 minutes before I can serve you again!". Are we in Australia?? Who is responsible for this bullshit? Do you want us at the track? Why penalize the paying public? Any wonder punters stay at home? Probably liquor laws - but that doesn't make it right.
but you can buy 3+ beers in a pub!!
