Just looking at this mornings West and it's coverage of Sport. I get the country edition and I am aware it is printed early etc, so I don't know whether Chicago Bull and the Pacing Cup got a mention in metro edition of Saturdays West? Certainly, absolutely nothing in the Country Saturday edition and again, not a word in my paper this morning. It is as if it never happened.
The general sports section has only 4 "locally' sourced articles....John Townsend on the back page concerning Ashton Agar and his selection in the Indian Touring party, Bridget Lacy has a piece on Nat Medhurst and West Coast Fever, Townsend again on Adam Voges returning to the Scorchers and Craig O'Donoghue has a basketball story on the Wildcats. Photographs aside, about one and a half to two pages of actual copy.Summer Racing has Jay Rooney writing about the Mungrup Sprint and William Pike's stewards enquiry. The rest of the 11 or 12 pages consists of "copy" lifted from elsewhere covering the one day series, the Tennis, the Soccer and some Eastern States racing. The bike race in Adelaide never made it. There are pages of results...racing, pacing and dogs plus club golf, cricket etc....every golfer in WA gets their name in the paper it seems.
Didn't bother paying too much attention to the Giddy Up garbage for Pinjarra other than to note that every horse in every race either each way, a place chance, has claims or a novelty hope......so utterly useless as to defy description.
Would be interested to see how much (if any) difference there is between the Metro and Country editions. On the basis of what I see in the Country editions, I wonder what the journo's in the Sport Department actually do.......copy and paste....or maybe they are on holidays ....or maybe they produce copy and it is rejected....or maybe blokes like Ernie are only part time?
Will be going to the Pinjarra form guide at HRA website before I contemplate having a bet this arvo....very comprehensive guide.

There was a small story on the Chicago Bull WA Pacing Cup win the night before in the metro edition of Saturdays "West" JJ but nothing much considering it is the biggest race in WA & the lead up during last week was utterly disgraceful you wouldn't have barely known it was being run unless you were into the sport like us.
Actually the Sunday Times even out did it with 2 reports from Robbie Dewar one on the Pacing Cup and the other on the Nights Of Thunder & the rest of the card.
Kudos to them and let's hope it continues.
