I remember a bit of commentary on here some short time ago about whether Aldo was going to do any good with a horse from the Halls - it subsequently won - and whether he was up to the mark as a trainer/driver. It made me sit up and watch him a bit more closely than I had previously. Gee, he does a good job - a treble at Northam tonight, driving both his own nominations and freelancing for the likes of Olivieri and generally giving all his drives every chance. No problem with Aldo - I remember a few years back when he was considering not carrying on as a full time operator. Glad he stuck with it - his strike rate and low key approach sit very well - wouldn't hesitate sending one to him. In fact, hatching a plan with some old mates to do just that and will do so with every confidence. Never met the bloke but a good advertisement for pacing. Hats off too him.

From all reports he is a great bloke. It must be dam hard for a guy like him with a smallish stable to make a living. I'd say over the last 6 months he is driving as well as every from limited opportunities. Watch him on the training front, he tends to go in waves where the stable will absolutely fire and then wether the horses seem to hit their mark or get to that point where they're a bit flat I don't know but he seems to just disappear. Hopefully Ben goes well for him again tonight.
