VENGABUS (Peter Knuckey) - Raced wide throughout and bumped outwards heavily approaching the 800m. Rider and Trainer Mr S Miller’s representative Mr Michael White were questioned regarding the reasons for the gelding settling further back in the field today as compared to its previous racing pattern where it has been ridden prominently. After taking initial comments and reviewing the vision, the inquiry was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed to give Stewards the opportunity to review all of the gelding’s previous performances and also to access betting records on this race. A post race Veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to have returned with a minor laceration to the near hind fetlock and to have a elevated heart rate.

I think they "just forgot" to get back to it...... OK, maybe the data on the betting patterns needed to be collected and analyzed. Heard this morning on RR that its back on today.

my tip- nothing will be done - high heart rate, cut to leg and was since not winner when raced again.

Why would it get sent back to trials? Just went up before the gates opened which happens quite a bit, the assistant starter who for some reason was starting them in the main race of the day then let them go, it took no part because the rider pulled it up when it was so far behind, not because the horse refused to jump at all.

Inquiry was held yesterday apparently, common sense prevailed and all clear from what I have heard.

why no media statement to tell us of the finding ?

why no media statement to tell us of the finding ?

Why would there?  A media report isn't used every time the stewards hold an inquiry on a later date.

I'd expect tomorrows stewards report to have a section at the end for "Late Reports" with any extra information on this one.  It how they seem to have done it for most of the similar inquiries.

Breath in, breath out....  I don't think this one's going to end the world?

I'm not part of the stable in any way TH.

But after reading the stewards report, it seems this forum isn't the only place people overreact.  Should we be calling for the stewards to be strung up for not remembering that they WERE told, and then calling an inquiry?

Maybe all connections should write their instructions on a piece of paper and put it in a barrel.  Then the stewards take the instruction, formulate a result based on those instruction and the last 5 run times (would make mailman happy too).  Then declare a winner.  Wouldn't even need to take the horses out of the tie up stalls.

How about we just leave it to the jockey to make the decisions need to WIN the race....
