Inghams I think
How can you cut Hay List? Bred and raced in WA. That's as "WA" as you will get. Just because a horse no longer races in WA doesn't mean they are not WA. Everyone has an opinion but the way I see things is that a you call a horse based on where it was bred. For example, Makybe Diva is not an aussie horse, go and look at it's career record and you will see a "GB" next to its name because Makybe Diva is from Great Britain.
Same with Phar Lap - a Kiwi horse.
Did you miss his 1st 9 starts?
Fair dinkum people - it's not hard.
As I said - you base a horse on where it's from.
I'm West Australian - now if I move to Victoria, am I Victorian??? Yes I am but by residence only, not by place of birth..........and that is how everyone should treat this list as in terms of WA bred horses.
For horses like Guyno.........he was trained in WA so for me he makes the list and is considered a WA horse.
Do not worry about where the sire was from - that is irrelevant. As I said only go by WHERE THE HORSE WAS BRED.
Its a bit like Black Knight - bred in WA but did all of his racing (or most of it) in the eastern states. I have used the Black Knight example many times on this forum. Black Knight is a WA horse. Cedarberg and Ethiopia fall into the same category as Black Knight as in - bred in WA (so a WA horse, no questions asked) but raced in the eastern states.
It's really simple people. Enjoy the list. WA they are.
Fastmoney, Thoroly_Bread likes this post.
Could be right but had 14 of its 78 starts in the eastern states. Started in the eastern states so maybe that's the odd one out. Still though it was WA trained - just not at the beginning of its career.
50/50 that one, and I can see your point too.
I think Starstruck was another one too, started its career in the east but headed West and people call Starstruck a WA horse.
There was another name that sprung to mind, but on closer inspection he just missed out on cracking the six 0 figure. Let Go Thomno, who is by Lavanto from Memory Lane won $932,475 in total prize money, of which $758,600 was from group and listed races. He had 44 starts for 13 wins 8 seconds and 7 thirds.
Were there a few others who were also on the borderline PC?
Hi mate,
Yes there were plenty on the borderline. Lots that were just below the $1mil mark.
I remember Let Go Thommo too.
Cheers,
PC.
