PUNTA - Perth's best bet has arrived.

PUNTA Bookmaking, formerly Ascot Bookmaking, has made the enormous transition to online bookmaker, overcoming almost 18 months of red tape and regulation.

PUNTA's online offering will specialise in just Perth Racing. Their niches are transparent betting limits, a guarantee not to ban winning punters and a unique function where punters are allowed to seek out the best price available about their preferred bet and "request" a price, even though they might not be displaying that price in their market.

This makes it no different to being on course, where you might ask your regular bookie to "bet you the best price".

PUNTA is open for business as of today, pre-post betting on Saturday's Belmont card. You'll find their prices in each Perth Turf Talk meeting preview.

Visit https://www.punta.com.au and register to get involved.

Any reason why the Hcp is 0.5kg more for some horses than listed on rwwa site?

Not a bad site. Could be set out a bit better in terms of appealing layout, but a good start.

Just thought it might have been a typo. Sometimes takes others to glance over to notice something you have been looking at for soooo long.

Best of luck with it Diva. Decent start.

Excellent site, gentlemen. Someone once said, " I'm a very lucky person. In fact the harder I work, the luckier I get". You have worked very hard to get this site up and working, and deserve every accolade that comes your way, and every success.

Oh, and lots of luck as well.

Looks a great idea and concept. Will you be fielding on other WA meetings or just Belmont/Ascot?
  • TheDivaTheDiva    13,248 posts
just ascot and belmont at this stage...but will be building the offering.
the issue we have in WA is that we cannot field on a meeting that we are not present on the racecourse.
Its a regulation we are trying to overcome and have been in the process of overcoming for years.
Hopefully, we will be able to soon.

    Diva,
Your point that you can't operate your website if you are not at the race meeting and your obvious disappointment about that, is interesting.

Frankly, I believe that every Corporate off course bookie should be made to field at every race meeting on which they operate. And, I believe that it should be compulsory for them to do so, and have a representative at every meeting, fielding on that meeting.

That means, of course that I reckon that if you want to operate on Northam  or Bunbury, Pinjarra etc. you should have a representative, not necessarily yourself, at the track fielding on the meeting.

The reason for this in my opinion is that if every bookie went to an off track internet betting system, there would not be one bookie at the track and that would be detrimental to on course attendance and the racing experience for the punter who is prepared to pay his/her way to go to the track.

I know that the numbers that go to track are dwindling. I know that it's tougher than ever for on course bookies to operate a viable business on track particularly at non carnival meetings and during the depth of Winter. But remove bookies from the track, and every racecourse would become a wasteland for 48 weeks of the year.

It is probable that no other bookie will follow in your footsteps because of the difficulties involved in doing what you have done and all the red tape that you have encountered. But if others do, and a law is introduced that no longer requires them to have an on-track presence for meetings at which they are operating, it would be the final nail in the coffin for the presence of on track bookies in Perth and W.A. The Perth betting ring, in my opinion, can't afford to lose any more bookies, particularly young ones like yourself.

So I hope, and this is purely me speaking from  the selfish point of view of a punter who who wants to be able to go to the track and bet with a human being and not a machine, that the racing bodies will see fit to ensure that all off track Corporate bookies must have an on-track presence at meetings on which they operate.

Not only would this bolster betting rings around the country, but it would force those Corporates to accept a minimum bet which they don't have to do now.

By the way, my plan isn't that far out there. All the Corporates  have a presence on track in England.

What about betting on futures ie Railway, KT, Perth Cup

And will there be doubles available?
  • TheDivaTheDiva    13,248 posts
futures...im not sure, but i think involves getting a sportsbetting license.
doubles may have its own license aswell.
its all part of loosening up the regulations on what we can and cant offer. example, top fluc, best tote, doubles, novelties etc.
at the moment it very cut and dried. win, place, each way, concession.
