My relations with On The Ropes are at a stand-off, he is one of my favourite gallopers and I'm usually aboard whenever he runs but he has turned into quite a frustrating proposition. First up over 1000m he bolted home and recorded a strong victory. Second up was flat when third to Pininci then has had some mixed form over a mile. I've got him rated as probably my best bet of the day here. If we consider his three career victories, they have been on a slow6 over 1200m where rattling home from 10th on the turn, on a slow6 over 1400m with 55kg when settling handy and kicking away to win by 4 lengths and first up this preparation on a dead5 in the rain over 1000m carrying 55kg when charging to the line. He has stepped up to a mile for his past three starts and had mixed results, drops back to 1400m here meaning he should be strong at the finish, runs with only 54kg of Steve Parnham aboard and is likely to be running on a slow6 on a rain affected track or actually in the rain itself. Drawn nicely in barrier 5 he should settle about 1 out and 3 back in transit and charge home. I'm obviously concerned about the state of the track by the last but I'm going to have a go. Tomorrow is Sunday the only thing to worry about on Sundays is, Do I wake up Grumpy or do I let her Sleep in?! For second and third I've gone with the wet trackers in Sail Maker, first up for Adam Durrant, yet to win first up but is 3 from 3 on a slow track and 4 from 7 at Belmont Park. McScar, not quite your typical McFlirt Mudlark but does have a wet track victory to his name and will appreciate returning to easier company. Wild Charger was huge in defeat last start but does have a tendency to tease with eye-catchers.

R3. Westspeed 3yo Handicap - Scott EmbryI expect Outlaw Pete to be the obvious and only danger, running on hard and those two may well gap the rest. Keen on the quinella for safety. Properantes looks the best of the rest with Turner jumping off last start win...
