As always come race 8 we should have a very good idea of how the Ascot track is playing. If the leaders have been killing it then Shalo all the way to the bank, he has won 3 from 3 and is rapidly on the way to building a picket fence, Azzopardi should burn them off again and find the lead without spending too much fuel and then it becomes a case of whether any of these are good enough to catch him. Recently the answer has been no but this time I think it may just be yes. Proceedwithcaution, the Dayana Plate and Belmont Classic winner of 2014. In the Dayana Plate Proceedwithcaution knocked Shalo off by 2.5 lengths as a very short priced favourite. Drawn awkwardly but looks poised to give new trainer Geoffrey Van De Molen an early win. Ben Kennedy knows the horse better than anyone and he can send punters home with a smile. Speculating a little with Balbowa as the best of the rest, capable of reeling off electric final 600s, former New Zealander is returning to his best.

USA racing is an experience Wizard. I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit Santa Anita and Belmont. I had a pleasant Sunday afternoon with the Mexicans and Puerto Ricans at Portland Meadows and had a great day with the bluebloods at Churchi...
