Stagnite couldn't quite reel in Mendicity on a heavily leader bias track when returning from a freshen up. Lay outwards on straightening and Mendicity just snuck away from him. He was the only one making ground and even though he is awkwardly drawn, looks very well placed and weighted to claim the Get-Out Stakes on Irish Day. To be honest I'm bitterly disappointed that Shane Quilty doesn't have a runner engaged however, he will probably be way too busy drinking and socialising with his family and friends. Winner at 4 from 7 Stagnite is a classy little galloper with very solid form lines. Beaten less than 2 lengths by Rock Magic and Dream Lifter he has the runs on the board and the class to charge past these. Rebelson, older half brother to Rebel King has been very hard to catch since his 3 year old days and hasn't won one since March 2013 but his warm-up trial was sharp and he could be a blowout hope. Antique Belle was simply excellent first up and then far from disgraced second up behind Danablue and Miss Rose De Lago. Ran the fastest final 600m of the race and will have to do so again to win this. With Pike jumping off, I've done the same, however, Pike did elect to ride Kheleva over Son of Something last week so it goes to show even the Wizard finds Perth form hard to follow.

I would understand that comment IF OB had drawn further out than barrier 5,but barrier1 is the last thing you would instruct your rider to do!Mr M Campbell, you have alot of explaining to do!

Shame about the weather (mid to late arvo) for the meeting, but seemed like there was a pretty good crowd on hand and all seemed in good spirits - the club need one or two more of these 'days' throughout the Belmont season, as the three country specific 'days'...
