Another wide open finish to a competitive days racing at winter headquarters and almost a field job for quaddie players. Should the rain fall then your Mcscar types come into play, 5 horses return from a spell including handy types like Northpace, Razed in Flames and competitive mares Sharp Turn and Little Shadow making for tough form analysis. I've settled on the luckless Cyclonic Halo. His first-up victory over Rusty Peaches and Takanori was excellent, coming from well off the speed to score for new trainer Simon Barrass. Put in an average performance when well back in the field behind New Time and then battled on hard in the wet when struggling to make any ground on Mcscar. Last start he settled back in the field and then found a heap of trouble up the straight when snatching third on the line from a tiring Sireeze and Fiddler's Elbow to his outside. Will drag back from a torrid alley but on the strength of his last start effort when luckless throughout and building on his 31% winning strike-rate and 54% place record he can give the last a shake at double figure odds. Dream Lifter has his first start for new trainer Jim Taylor after putting in an inglorious performance second-up when enjoying the run of the race and failing to fire a shot. Meets Cyclonic Halo 0.5kg worse at the weights from their last encounter but with a little Taylor polish can bounce back to form. Has been well supported at both runs this campaign and many will be willing to forgive his most recent effort. Immense returned to trials after his WA debut where he was beaten out of sight with seemingly no excuse, there was an Australia-wide crunch on him that day and if we forget that run he has finished in the money at 7 of 10 career starts. $51 is a big price and with Troy Turner in the saddle from a good gate could represent a blowout hope.
