Back flipping on Gladstone
Ok, so in my last preview I did say "this is Gladstones last chance this preparation"....HOWEVER, I'm going to make myself a liar and have one last go at him. Pike is on and if we think about Pike jumping aboard Adam Durrant trained horses it looks like this: Crumpet O'Reilly, beaten favourite at Northam, Pike jumps on and wins 5 in a row; Son of Something, beaten favourite at Albany, Pike jumps on and wins 4 in a row; Tick Tick Bloom, beaten in Bunbury maiden, Pike jumps on and wins 3 of next 4. For that reason I'm allowing myself to back Gladstone one more time before I give up on him for good. Finally draws a barrier, gets a 2kg weight swing over Trade Down and steps back up to a mile. Given a fortnight between runs I'll give him one final go at $4. Trade Down has been super impressive in both runs this preparation, only concern is the outside gate to contend with, Carbery will probably have to settle further back in the field than he would ideally like. One at astronomical odds, probably getting out towards 200-1 on the jump, is Bridies Boy. Carries 52kg of Cockram and with blinkers reinstated to gear could surprise a few fresh. Kim Mini has put together a string of more than handy runs and get another chance here to pick up Saturday prize money after a Northam victory.

Now what about Wednesday? Priceless Cat (race 4) seems like it could be a goer. A really stupid bloody name for a horse but it might be something to look at.
