Peters' Shining Knight
Peter Hall is the new Shining Knight of WA racing after his faultless rides aboard Delicacy in the South Australian Oaks and Derby. Shining Knight is 1 from 1 on a rain affected track and 2 from 3 at Belmont Park. 1200m the biggest concern, seems to be right on his limit. Dawn Approach has beaten Shining Knight in both the Listed Miss Andretti and Northam Stakes, no reason why he can't do it again and to most $6.50 is a very attractive eachway bet. Luckygray is simply too good to rule out, 5 wins at 1200m and 4 wins from just 5 starts at Belmont Park but the major concern, 2 starts on rain affected tracks both unplaced. Should it rain Saturday his wheels may be spinning.

This may sound unbelievable but is what actually happened. The judges misread the number on the horse that came third (the colours as well) confusing 5 and 15. They ended up declaring them both 3rd, despite Blue Palace finishing near the rear of the field. Oh ...
