Obviously first-up over 1400m is a concern but I think Crown Lawyer can run a big race here. Drawn well in barrier 5, with the claim for Jordan Turner carries only 55kg and has won twice first-up previously. New Time and Crown Lawyer met head to head in the Listed Carbine Club won by Black Heart Bart. On that occasion Crown Lawyer sat outisde Miss Rose De Lago while New Time had a soft run on the fence, New Time beat Crown Lawyer home by a length but conceeds a 1.5kg weight swing here. I think Crown Lawyer can turn the tables. New Time is a 1400m specialist and will appreciate having Jake Casey aboard. Gladstone was the most frustrating horse for me last preparation, every time I'd put my money on he would run a luckless second and every time I left him alone he would win. Form read: 2,1,2,1,2,1. So as you can gather I was backing him on a fortnightly basis and couldn't get it right, he should sprint well fresh.
