Fiddler's Elbow too sharp in Plate

This is an ultra-competitive edition of the Fitzpatrick Plate and we think it is a great option for (4) FIDDLERS ELBOW, who showed he was just about ready to hit peak form when an unlucky third at Ascot last Saturday. The Justin Warwick-trained five-year-old was in desperate need of clear running in the straight and despite Troy Turner's best efforts, was unable to get the required galloping room and had to settle for the minor placing. Dan Morton's warhorse (1) ZESTER makes his first appearance in Albany following his short-head second in the Batavia Sprint at Geraldton 22/03. Racing well, drawn nicely and has performed well with big weights in the past. (3) DREAM LIFTER is the best of the locals and looked ready to fly first-up with a sizzling Albany 26/03 barrier trial performance, but our top-two selections have a significant edge in the race fitness department, and (6) TIGER PETE roared into contention for this race with a drought-breaking with at Ascot 21/03 and he looks really well in with 55kg on his home ground.

Danny Miller for once didn't ride the Country Cup winner, but young Jerry certainly took a leaf out of his book with that display..
